A small but thorough museum documenting the mix of lives in the lively Bo Kaap section of Cape Town. Most interesting part are the documentaries of personal lives and how the people have changed and adapted over the years.

The staff were quite friendly and wanted to make sure that I had a good experience at the museum. It should be viewed prior to walking around the Bo-Kaap area so a greater appreciation of the culture and community is known.

When in Bo-Kaap is definitey worth visiting the museum. It is small, and does not have many exhibits, but the information helps make sense of the local community and how it has developed. Cape Town'a social history is so complex and at times tragic, any...More

We thought while in Bo-Kaap we may as well attend the museum. It is only 20R entry per person. The museum itself is small and I did not think that it provided any real information that most people didnt already know? Personally I thought it...More

Visiting this museum is an informative pitstop when exploring the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood. It provides the background and personal stories to complement the colourful housing on the streets outside. The museum is small, but for only 20 rand (£1) it's definitely worth visiting. If you want...More

Whilst very small the museum, through a video presentation gives a good picture of life in Bo Kaap as it was in earlier days. The museum is situated in a typical Bo Kaap house and is surrounded by similar houses in a whole range of...More

We went here as a part of our visit to the Bo Kaap, the museum barely has anything to see. No collections, no much history to show.

Though the exhibits were interesting the best part was talking with Buntu, the guide and doorman. He was informed and very interesting, talking about local history and his personal experiences. Worth a visit to get more background to the development of Cape Town.

This small museum gives an overview of the history of the neighbourhood with some photo's from last century of the shops. Some of the shops are still in function such as the one next door and one opposite the street.
