I didn't see any dugong there

Just coming back from Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort ,I was a little bit disappointed because I didn't see any dugong there and only 2 turtles visiting Marsa Mubarak bay every day during a week. I tried different hours even at 6 a.m. but nothing .This happened perhaps because every day 7-8 boats are coming in the bay with a lot of tourists chasing to see dugongs and maybe the animals are not very comfortable with such a number of people around.

Very depressive and sad. Turtles gang bang and destroyed coral reefs. Never again. Egyptians destroy natural wealth.

What a shame!!!

I have recently returned from here and i was absolutely disgusted with the way in which people bombard the Turtles and the Dugongs it is a real shame. I spoke with someone who works for the EEAA ( Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency) and they stated there are only supposed to be 4 large boats in the area at one time and no zodiac speed boats in the shallow areas where the turtle and dugongs graze on the sea grass, however i was appalled to see seven large vessels consisting of over 200 people constantly swimming up to these creatures and trying to touch them and chase them as well as the zodiac speed boats darting from one side to another taking as many people that would fit in the bost as possible to chase the next poor creature they could get close too.

If anyone who cares about these creatures wants like to see them should do so with a reputable company that appreciates them and their environment that they live in and not use companies which are all about the money as these reefs are being destroyed and will soon not be around for anyone to appreciate as the boats are moored using illegal steel ropes around the living coral which is just being decimated to rubble.

Policies need to be enforced but with the high demand from ignorant tourists who only care about what they want with no consideration for the wildlife nothing will be done, what a shame!

excellent dive spot but with a bitter feeling

This is a large bay where you can make a lot of different dives. We did 3. One was with the big boy (sea cow).
The way some people behave towards animals made me ashamed. We (dive groups) keep our distance while the dougong is eating, swimming and breathing but the hordes of snorkelers are really harassing the poor animal. do they thinkthat paying ffor an snorkeling trip gives them all the permissions in the world. Dougong are peaceful vegetarians and then the humans are bold.

Animal cruelty

The flora and fauna of this area need to be protected !!! We went on a trip (I dived and wife snorkelled) and I wish we hadn't ....there is only supposed to be 4 boats at any one time in the area...there were NINE !!!! Unfortunately (for it) the dugong did make an appearance and was subsequently bombarded by RIB boats and hoards of people who apparently were touching it and completely invading its space :-( my wife saw only one turtle which only had three flippers ...no doubt a victim of a boat propeller :-( if you have any moral sense of responsibility to the environment AVOID this area !!!

One off the Bucket List

My OH & I have a snorkelling bucket list & the only 2 things left on it are snorkelling with wild dolphins & with a dugong. So when we were asked to take a boat trip to this bay we jumped at the chance. First we went to a bay further south to snorkel another reef then returned here, hopefully to see the dugong. We were guaranteed to see the very large turtle & did so quite quickly but the dugong was proving to be elusive so we snorkelled the small reef for a little while then returned to the boat for lunch. We'd hardly dried off when a call went up that the dugong had been sighted so we all piled into a rib boat & sped off to where he was. It was great seeing this creature but spoilt a little by how many people were around him, especially as some of them weren't great swimmers. I eventually moved off to one side away from the thrashing hordes, to be rewarded with the dugong rising from the depths right next to me. We got some great photos. After lunch, we returned to the water & snorkelled the reef for a while. There are some lovely corals & we saw a black lion fish (they are usually brown or orange).

Wooooow Dugong and turtule

I had the chance to swim with 3.5 m Dugong twice and with 1.5 m turtle. Hit the beach after 3:30 PM when the ships leaves. Follow the grass and search for Dugong. If you are more than one, split up to increase the probability. Dugong came to the beach to eat every day from 3:30 pm to 4:30 PM before the sun set, then goes home.

Turtles and 'Sea Cows'

Many turtles, would say 'guaranteed' to see some. However in reality there is literally one Sea Cow that comes in to feed from deep water so the chance of actually seeing is very small.

However the coral and snorkelling is great anyway.

Amazing!

We saw a Dugongo! An amazingly magestic sea cow. Huge yet so tender. Please DO NOT ever, under any circumstances touch sea life. You are a guest in their house. Be curious but respectful.
