Fun time to try panning for gold. Didn't find much but the area is very beautiful. Little town is nice and beautiful flowers.

Our party of 4 adults and 3 teens enjoyed the mine. There are several buildings from the original mine you can check out. They are furnished with items from the time period so that is nice. Unfortunately, they weren't giving out maps due to COVID. I'm not sure how not giving out a disposable map makes the world safer but I'm guessing it saves them money. After your self-guided tour, you can take your rented supplies down to the river to go gold panning. This is especially fun for kids and teens. My son and I had a great time with Justin, as our tour guide, for Crow Creek Mine. Pros: The instruction was clear, the ride was on groomed trails, and the reindeer sausage was tasty. They ensure you have the proper gear before leaving the base location. Cons: I thought it was a little pricey; and they don’t offer a military discount. Nonetheless, I highly recommend! Glad you enjoyed snow machining, unfortunately this is the wrong spot to review this. Crow Creek Mine does not offer Snow Machine tours. The snow machining you did is at the mine that is above Crow Creek Mine. Sorry for the confusion!

This was a fun activity to try. We found gold in the sample but none in the creek. My son was 6 and got bored when he didn’t find gold after a few tries. It’s probably better for older children. We had fun but I was nervous since you walk to the creek alone and there are a lot of signs in town warning about bears. We sang as we walked. It’s a pretty area and I’m glad we went. I wish they had someone to help you at the creek at least for a few minutes.…

We got there too late to do any of the activities, and we left early in the morning, but we parked our RV in one of their lovely campsites. Beautiful, lots of separation between campsites, beautiful trees, and peace and quiet. There are no hookups, here, it's dry camping only. Only a few miles off the road down a fairly well graded gravel road, $10/night, well worth it.…
