This was the worst aquarium I have ever been to. The animals had very small cages and looked very stressed and it seemed like they were suffering. It was not a nice experience at all and I would not recommend anyone to go there, the ticket price was not worth it. There was a lot of ugly and scary fishes as well.

Overall the aquarium was a pleasant experience. Lots of incredible animals and the underwater tanks were really great. My biggest complaint was that the tropical tanks had fake coral (plastic or concrete) one of the reasons you spend the money to go to a nice aquarium is to see things that are real. Expensive for China but overall a good experience. I enjoyed it once, but would not go again.

Not crowded due to the coronavirus crisis. Most visitors wore breathing masks. Nice collection of sealife. Enjoyed watching the penguins being fed. Amazing sharks, rays, upside-down catfish, puffer fish, dancing jellyfish, and more. Signage in Chinese and English.

I went here around 5 pm and I enjoyed taking photos inside we’re only a few. You will see a lot inside! My favorite spots are the jellyfish aquariums and the penguins. The gift shop also sells good quality souvenirs.

Visited this aquarium after a cloudy day made a visit to Shanghai Tower not worthwhile. The tickets were quite pricey (160 RMB per adult, 110 RMB per child under 140 cm), and the aquarium was really crowded on a Sunday morning. The aquarium has a huge variety of fish and is a little light on other non-traditional fish attractions, including Chinese alligators, a handful of seals, about 8 sad-looking penguins, sharks, and jellyfish. The escalators and moving walkways going through the tanks were a highlight, as were the large tank of koi competing with each other to eat up a cabbage. Worth a visit if in this part of Pudong with extra time.

Great for kids. Fun for adults too.
This aquarium has large displays of local and tropical fishes from all over the world.
Alot of the displays are actually walking through glass tunnels so the fish or mammals are swimming not only beside you but also above. Almost like scuba diving.
There is also a whole room especially for jelly fish. Very relaxing to watch them all undulating.
I think more people would go if the entrance fee wasn't so high: 160 Yuan.

The aquarium is open until 10 pm after summer holiday starts. It's best to visit the aquarium at night. After the acquarium, there is ample time to watch the night view of the city.

Note (1)
There is concession for students with student cards and old people of 60 years old.

Note (2)
Did not see many fish from the glass tunnel. May be the fish are inactive at night.
