The Sinan Mansions is a quaint quarter of the greater French concession areas in Shanghai. The neighbourhood is dotted with many colonial-styled houses with unique wooden and iron railings along stairs and balconies, lush gardens and an old school vibe. Ideal for romantic strolls, the area, surrounded by lots of greenery, is brimming with cafes and restaurants where visitors can get a bite to eat and a drink to seal the deal.

Many come here to unwind from their hectic life in the bustling metropolis. There is also bookstore and perfumery with lots of trees and flowers around.

On the day of our visit, it was drizzling but we enjoyed our visit here, it's so peaceful and tranquil and like the beautiful sights here!

A cluster of restaurants, bars and 'galleries' in a newly opened area, part of a revamped old Shanghai mansion now becoming a multi complex. When we went, it was having a beer festival with lots of beer booths offering a very expat atmosphere. It was like a mini Xintiandi ... If you enjoy a better feel of Shanghai local relaxing life, recommended to take a walk from Sinan Mansiin to Huaihai Road, the little streets with trees around are nice and quiet. There were a few coffee shops and book stores we didn't try but looked quite attractive from its decor.

It's interesting only if you' re into photography and architecture. It is a clean and westernised place, where you can relax and have a cup of coffee, but nothing extraordinary!

These seem to be restored and maybe in some cases modified homes that date back to the time of the French Concession in Shanghai. My local Chinese guide did not know of this area, and she felt that the area had a more "European" feel to it; due to the large European-style homes located in the area. You can also visit the one-time home of Premier Zhou En Lai while in the area, and take a self-guided tour inside of his one time residence. Numerous Western-style eateries in the area, even a "Fatburger"! Another relaxing aside and stroll that sits in the center of Shanghai, yet somehow compartmentalized into its own quiet and relaxing area.

Just a hundred steps away from the Huaihai Road station of the Metro, this beautiful row of French villas turned into bars and restaurants entices visitors from around the globe.

Starbucks here is truly quaint as it is every inch, French. The paths are nice and the ambience reminds us of the cultural strands that shaped Shanghai to what it is today.

Snap a selfie in its lush gardens. Take delight in the vines that smolder the walls of some structures. The trees along the roads also make this charming community a haven for nature-lovers.

The restaurants, though, are above mid in terms of pricing. Dishes and drinks are way too expensive so, have a full meal before heading there.

The Sinan Mansions are a series of Western European buildings from the 1920s. It is quite a small area that it covers and has a nice intimate feel to it. There is a small museum telling of the history of the mansions along with its famous former residents. There are bars and food places...and two giant pianos that you play by standing / jumping on them. A lovely little area this with a lovely feel to it.

Another special little spot in Shanghai. Apparently all the buildings were taken down and rebuilt 90 degrees towards the street but it is a nice place to spend a few hours at restaurants or the shops. The Starbucks is located in one of the old homes so it is an easy way to check out the inside! The gardens are lovely and sheltered from the sun with waterfalls and ponds so it is worth making a trip here

Had a good stroll along Sinan Road, passing former residence of PRC first Premier Zhou Enlai, and into Sinan Mansions. Lots of restaurants and cafe, very history enclave within the city of Shanghai.

Classy venue with good choices of food and a couple of microbreweries on top of everything else. The buildings and the grounds are beautiful. Well worth a visit.

This Sinan area is quite exclusive, it is well maintained and has a touch of history as well. You will find quietness and feeling of the past here. It's easily accessible by walk and nicely between Tianzi Fang and Xintiandi. This is part of the tour when you explore French Concession. There is a party museum and quite elegant restaurant services in the area.
