Neighbourhood: People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
How to get there
  • People's Square • 2 min walk

Be aware, that if you try and walk some of the paths, you will come across barriers that will stop you and it could be a long walk to get around

This square is part of the crossroads of the city. Gardens, a place to relax, museums in the area, courts to play ball, and more. A fun place to relax and take a breather and people watch.

A green respite from which you can see the historic Peace Motel, walk to museum or concert hall....Or cross the street and shop and eat for days never seeing the same place twice, at the southern end follow Jianling to see the music district, the theatre district, all in the shadow of Pearl Tower and the Bund. A new Metro line is under build and some of the older neighborhoods to the south and east are under redevelopment, still I suggest a camera tour so you have Pictures of what old Shanghai looked like only a decade ago. A quiet respite in a noisy place.

From the size to the flowers and trees a very nice place. Look around at the skyline and visit the shops underneath.

People's Square Park is a large park in the center of the city. Restaurants, a lake, nice colorful shrubbery. Shade, sun and benches. People walking, sitting, doing tai chi. And...the parents and grandparents on weekends have umbrellas with their children and grandchildren's names and information to marry them off.

Very interesting to visit on a weekend where you can see a crowd gathering of parents/grandparents trying to find suitable husbands/wifes for their children/grandchildren.

Peoples square is a lovely place to see yet there's not much going on if you compare it with a lot of china but as its on the way to Nanjing road and the jade temple it's worth passing through.

Nice square with beautiful flowers and the fountains come on on the hour I think. Shanghai museum overlooks the square.
