Nice green park in the middle of the Former French concession. Perfect place for a picnic and some yoga. Many local people are coming here to dance and do exercise. Highly recommend!

Love Fuxing Park and it is so beautiful at this time of the year. The Rose Garden is absolutely delightful at the moment

It is beautiful in Spring. Beautiful peony garden here. They have a huge rose garden too. Crowd is good here and you can see the seniors dancing and singing. There’s a children’s amusement park for families too. Pretty decent size park and entrance is free.

The locals have established informal dance meets in this and many other local parks every Saturday and Sunday but it is a wonderful respite from the din and tumult of this vibrant city.

If you're looking for a calm corner of the city to take a stroll, Fuxing Park is the perfect escape. Shanghainese people just hanging out and enjoying their days. Tai chi, checkers, dancing lessons - it's so charming.

Visited Fuxing Park with a local guide and found this to be a very memorable, unique experience. We came in the morning on a Saturday to see all the local retirees gather in various social clubs - the maracas club, ballroom dancing club, tai chi club, Chinese yoyo club, ribbon dancing club, singing club, investing club - you name it: there is a club! It's wonderful to see the joy with which the women (who generally retire at age 55) and men (who generally retire at 60) enjoy their leisure time, making new friends, gossiping, learning new hobbies, and enjoying old hobbies. Would not have visited if our guide hadn't recommended it, and absolutely recommend a visit in the morning when the clubs are active - one of the highlights of our time in Shanghai!

This is a nice little oasis in the midst of a busy city though I am not sure I would make the journey to it for its own sake. A pleasant stop if you happen upon it whilst walking around the neighbourhood which is quite affluent and western. A good excuse to stop and people-watch.

A very nice park, and as others have mentioned, great people-watching.
There are a great variety of landscapes crammed into a relatively small area, including a small forested area with woodland walks, a French formal garden, a small lake (of course, this is China and water is essential), a rose garden, some statuary, etc. I spent an enjoyable hour or so strolling around the park enjoying the plants and the people.

enjoyed seeing the huge variety of groups who meet here. singing, dancing , exercise, calligraphy, majong and cards music. Everyone was so unself concious and enjoying themselves and happy for you to watch.
It is an attractve shaded park which was lovely to be in during hot weather.
We found it so much fun to watch all theses groups socialising and paracticing together and they were friendly to us and let us join in.

We had the pleasure of going there on many Sunday's. It is an absolute must see to take in Chinese culture. Many older residents get together to socialize and sing and dance and tai chi and story tell and talk politics. I cannot describe it well enough - the park lights up on Sundays.

How is it in January?
Not a good time to visit, right?

Maybe colder, and January 25th is the beginning of the Chinese New Year, so probably not the best time to visit.
