An entertaining way to see some traditional Kandayan dancing. It was a fun experience in rather average surroundings. A function room at the back of a restaurant. The seating arrangements were rather ad-hoc but maybe people paid more for a front seat. The fire walking...More

Attended a performance on the recommendation of our driver. Our hotel also recommended though not sure if they were recommending this particular performance or the one around the corner. Performance was ok. Fire eating and walking was impressive. The venue let it down- definite smell...More

If u want to experience the cultural side of Sri Lanka this is a must visit. The dance performance showcases the different dance forms of Sri Lanka. The peacock dance and fire walking are two of the most memorable ones. Towards the end they throw...More

We were taken here by our driver which was part of a service provided by our accomodation. We paid 9000 lkr to be driven to and from various activities arranged by our host over the course of two days....however nearly all of these activities envolved...More

It seems there are a few venues that hold the same dance performance. We went to the one next to the hospital. The performance commences at 5:00pm and lasts an hour. At the end they had fire walkers. Cost to see the performance is 1000...More

Whilst this performance is aimed at the tourists it was impressive. The venue is huge being the auditorium of the Kandyan Hotel. We were lucky as there were very few people. It would be uncomfortable in high season with a full house. The handout given...More

While I must commend the dance troupe for their energetic performance the set up itself was quite basic. The dance happens in a hotel ballroom on a small stage. There is no backdrop or any decorations. The lighting is basic. The performers gather behind banquet...More

Had the opportunity to see Sri Lankan music & dance performances twice before this - at a wedding & at our hotel. On arriving, the performance area was quite full, hot & stuffy despite the fans being used. The show went for around an hour...More

Nice to see the traditional Kandyan dancing. The dancing isn't anything spectacular, but good nonetheless. The drumming is pretty impressive. The performance lasts around one hour, 5-6pm. Make sure to avoid 'touts' trying to sell tickets outside and by at the desk on the door....More

5pm. But at that time it is a scramble to get good seating - no reserved seating exists. Reach about 15 to 30 minutes early. The duration is about an hour including a Fire dance which is outside the performance hall.

You buy tickets at the entrance of the Red Cross Hall where the performances are held. I would buy tickets early to get good seats. From the Temple of the Tooth, you walk along the lake away from the downtown/shopping/ area... More
