The theatre reminded me of my high school performance hall. I guess it was the drapes and seating. This was thoroughly entertaining and interesting. Our driver purchased unreserved seats and we opted for the balcony section. I noted that many tour groups had reserved front...More

Reading some of the reviews I was a little disappointed with what they were saying. This show is run and performed by the locals, its not a professional dance show, they do this in their spare time as a hobby. It was lovely to watch...More

Highlight - it was good to see local dancing... English language sheets explaining dance types were printed with low ink and therefore unreadable as most words were missing! Such a shame that the performers looked like they didn't want to be there and yawned on...More

Still puzzeled by the performance. For foreigners the show is difficult to follow but the enthousiasm displayed is nice. Some parts of the show felt a bit amateur like.

Boring, uncoordinated performance by locals who don‘t seem to enjoy what they are doing. Right after the show, some of the staff reaches to the entrance with they giant tip boxes, to ask for money. Definitely not recommendable, sace your time and money.

The dancers are not really synchronised, but since that's not the main point of the show but to show you the clothes and the culture, it's ok.

My review is pretty much going to echo what almost everyone has said. Yes it's interesting, yes it's enteratining (for the first 30 minutes) but then you kind of get the sense that 'Ok, done that now, how do I get out!' which is never...More

We came by for the cultural show after visiting the Buddha tooth relic museum next door. It's a 1-hour show that displays the culture of Sri Lanka. I saw some performers who were energetic while a few seem rather unsure of their steps. Good to...More

We were in YMBA. The performance took 1h includes 10 dances. The dancers skills are rather poor or the show is not well prepared, for most time they dance out of sync. The positive is music played by drummers and dancers traditional clothes. The ticket...More

Traditional Kandyan dances include the cobra dance, mask dance and the Ginisila - dancing and waling on fire, the Kandyan Dance, percussion only and Geta Beraya, drum only, performers dance, sing and do acrobatics. Costume are impressive and colourful. Unfortunately, not all the dancers perform...More

5pm. But at that time it is a scramble to get good seating - no reserved seating exists. Reach about 15 to 30 minutes early. The duration is about an hour including a Fire dance which is outside the performance hall.

You buy tickets at the entrance of the Red Cross Hall where the performances are held. I would buy tickets early to get good seats. From the Temple of the Tooth, you walk along the lake away from the downtown/shopping/ area... More
