Small, manageable museum, it is really a house so it gives you a great idea of how all the rooms were in its time. The grounds surrounding it looked almost neater with the little town and park, maybe would have liked to spend more time outside than in the house, but neat nonetheless. Can't take pictures so that was kind of a bummer.

On our second visit to Cetinje, we had 2 older teens with us. Walking around this small town, which was filled with young college students, was a memorable day for the whole family. The blossoming of Cetinje`s famous linden trees bathed the entire town in a pleasant scent. The Royal Palace tour was especially interesting, even to the teens, with many portraits, household artifacts and diplomatic gifts from the royal family, historical costumes, ancient arms and heraldry over centuries of rule. Our guide was most charming and informative, and had the ability to weave in stories of the royal families, marriages, children, etc. that brought the palace alive for us. It's not just a palace, it was a home to a large family. Great finds in the gift shop too!

The entrance was Eur 5 per adult and well worth the price. We had a guided tour in English. The palace rooms are wonderfully original furnished and the history lesson we got from our tour guide was unforgettable. The history of this last Montenegro monarch, King Nikola and his family is riveting.

This is a very fancy place to visit. In comparison with the huge Royal castles, there is still a sense of family life, which is well preserved today. The curator is a very friendly lady, who has an impressive knowledge of the European history in general. She gave us a fantastic introduction, regarding why the royal family was loved by the local residents.

If you pay a visit to Cetinje, the old capital of Montnegro from19th century you have to see this museum at the beginning of your sightseing this town. In a half an hour guided tour you will get all you need to understand the history of Petrovic-Njegos ruler dynasty and Montenegrian independency.

We planned to spend a day in Cetinje as it was the historic capital of Montenegro and the museum is comprised of several smaller museums. Needless to say, the drive there from the coast took longer and was more exciting. We did spend a few hours and liked the museum of King Nekola - which was the former palace and royal home - the best. One must tour as a group and our tour guide was very informative. Even though we don't speak montenegrin, we had enough knowledge of russian and croatian to get the gist of what she was speaking about! This is what made it so fun for us! We walked around the town a bit and ate lunch at Restaurant Kole (delicious!!). If we did it again, we'd spend less time in Cetinje and more time exploring the natural areas around the mountains

Small museum in the centre (pedestrian square) of Cetinje portraying royal family, their living style, furniture, paintings clothing and weaponry, apparently in their former dwelling place. 5 Euros entrance just about worthy of a glimpse of Montenegrin history.

I loved this museum, It was really interesting to see how the Royal family lived. Costumes and paintings were fab. I don't think that visitors should be allowed to take photographs whist there as the flash has a detrimental effect on the furnishings etc.
