Not ready for prime time but ok if you're in to the hostel and homestay thing. Trang An is a better boat trip.

There were two factors that made the visit to Tam Coc a little disappointing. The first was the smog that was persistent through the entire visit to Hanoi and the second was that the rice paddies were not yet sprouting (which is just timing). This...More

The scenery and tour down the river were amazing and well worth doing. Just be warned that at the end there is a little floating market where you are expected to buy drinks. Once brought you will find the prices have been inflated 1000% so...More

I must admit I was slightly dreading this experience for all the bad I’d heard about the Tam Coc sampan ride and the scammers and hawkers, but we were fortunate to survive unscathed! As soon as the sun came out, we dashed down to the...More

Well worth the day trip and travel. Very scenic boat ride but marred by the somewhat aggressive haggling for selling of photos and food/drinks/souvenirs along the way.

We loved Tam Coc, visited in a large family group the end of December. It was cold! This will not be most travelers' issue, but they are really not prepared for it and restaurants didn't have doors much less heat. We went straight from Halong...More

This was included in our day trip (booked from lily's travel agency - RECOMMENDED!) and it was so beautiful! The day we were going, it was quite cloudy so the view was just wonderful and not "magical". About 1.5h a local woman row our both...More

We rented a boat for the canal/cave tour thing down the road from The Temple of the Cave, roughly west of Tam Coc. We paid 200,000 dong / $8 for a boat for 3 people. The lady whom we paid for the service kept reminding...More

No lunch included. The tip belongs to you. I think Trang An is better. But if you travel from May to June Tam Coc is amazing with yellow rice fields around.

No, the boat tour takes at least 2hours so you can’t visit at 5p.m.I think boat is the only access to the sight. You can rent a Homestay by the river there if you want.
