One of the best tours in Manaus. The boat that leads there leaves the Marina do Davi, which is after Ponta Negra, and the journey there is already a tour by itself because the boat, as if it were a collective bus, stops in several rivery communities. The guided visits offered by the museum itself are a real spectacle. You arrive with zero expectation and leave transformed with so much information about the syringe and the rubber cycle. There is no need to hire this tour through a tourist agency.

An unforgettable tour! Beautiful experience! We took the boat, public transport and stopped at some riverside points until we arrived at the Museo. Upon arrival you are already surprised by the beauty of the place and visiting the facilities you will become more and more enchanted! Great! A unique tour! We understand a little about the rubber tappers’ lifestyle!

We went here as part of a tour from our cruise ship. We were told that they were normally closed on the day that we visited but that they opened for us. However, not all of the staff were working, so I cannot judge how the tour might have gone on a different day. The site was originally built for a movie, but it appears authentic. You really need a guide to explain things as the signage is not great. You can get an idea of what life as a rubber baron as well as life as a worker was like.

It takes a bit of doing to get to the rubber museum. A long boat ride after a long drive out to Ponta Negra. But it's worth it. The site was originally built for a movie, but it appears authentic. You really need a guide to explain things as the signage is not great. You get a great idea of what life as a rubber baron as well as life as a worker was like. One of the highlights of Manaus.

For those interested in scenery, nature and a bit of history this recreation of a 19th century natural rubber collection camp is a must. The original camp was hundreds of miles north east of here, in the middle of the jungle. The site consists of a recreation of a beautiful 19th century wooden house, furnished with high quality furniture from across Europe and the Far East, including a piano. Just to think that such luxuries were available to the residents in the middle of the jungle is amazing. Around the main house there is a recreation of the process by which natural rubber was extracted from rubber trees, and brought with it wealth and fame to Manaus. There are some rubber trees, with their bark cut, seeping the creamy natural rubber into containers. There is a shack with utensils used by the rubber collectors, recreation of the way by which the gooey rubber sap was turned into firm rubber balls, and recreation of the places in which the rubber collectors lived. It is all spread out in a piece of jungle overlooking a river. The guided tour, which is free with admission (R$5), was available only in Portuguese when I visited, and was filled with fascinating stories about the rubber collectors, the captain who owned the place, the manager of the estate and his wife, who betrayed the manager with his personal pianist. Great stuff.
Getting to the museum by public boat is half the fun. There is a frequent public bus service (bus number 120) from downtown Manaus to Ponta Negra. Stay on the bus till the very end, when it stops at the end of a wide road. A short narrow streets leads from there to Marina Davi, where you can find passenger boats providing ferry services, including the shuttle to the Museu De Seringal. The boat is small and travels fast, like a speed boat, passing (with an optional stop) the beautiful beach of Praia da Luna on the Rio Negro. The river has several inlets, called agarapes in Portuguese, and the museum is up one of them. Once you are left by yourself at the landing, and the boat leaves, you have the feeling of being stranded on a jungle island. But not to worry. All the boat captains have cellphones, and are connected to a dispatch center, so a quick call from the museum office will bring to shore another boat to take you back. The trip on the river is very pleasant, and half the fun of the whole experience. The boat ride costs R$7 each way.

I found the museum to be quite interesting and informative and was quite impresses about the quality and preservation of the entire property. It was interesting to get the flavour of how it was to live and work in a rubber farm in Brazil at that time :-)

Just a short boat-ride from Manaus, this museum represents the life-style of a rubber plantation owner and his bonded labourers. Although it was originally created as a movie set (for A SelvaO it is hugely interesting and informative. Just make sure you have a good guide. Ours was GREAT (thanks, Clive). As others have mentioned, the boat trip was all part of the experience and all in all, the visit (which took a total of @ 4 hours) was a great change from the concrete jungle of Manaus. A walk around the 'plantation' delivers different exhibits of the life on a rubber plantation from the perspective of the plantation owner and family, manager, and bonded workers. Be prepared for possible showers and make sure you have good, non-slip shoes/sandals.

Seringal Vila Paraiso is in fact a film setting, but remais true to history. You can take a bus-boat from Marina do Davi - near Hotel Tropical, for R$ 9 one way. A 25 min boat trip, many stops on the way giving you the chance to see Comunidade Nossa Senhora de Fátima and other local residences, as well as experience a true way of transportation for local people and share it with them. The Marina itself is a must see! At the Seringal, a very educational guided tour for only R$ 5. After the tour you can choose either to catch a boat back or remain at the premises. Watch out for boatman lunch break if you don´t intend to stay long. Really worth it!

We visited in the Amazon dry season, when the taxi boat from Marina Davi drops you off some distance from Paraiso on a tiny dock on the bank of a river in the middle of nowhere. You have to follow a path flagged with torn bits of cloth on sticks to find the museum. Despite what you may read to the contrary about Seringal being kitchy, it is actually a very interesting place to spend a couple of hours, as the somewhat sordid history of the rubber boom and bust in Brazil is laid bare. Latex still oozes from trees, ants were used as bug repellent, and the mystery of where those thick shelled Brazil nuts come from is made plain. A great tour and well worth a half day visit.

Don't miss it ! Here you can understand how the 'lords' of the seringais lived in the luxury in the middle of the forest, and how the northeast people lived and died as slaves to gave the fortune or those lords... It is a class of the real history !!!! The history we usually don't learn in the school...

Para ir pra marinha do Davi eu sugiro pegar um uber. Melhor custo beneficio, sem duvidas.
A marinha do davi é um embarcadouro usado o ano inteiro por lanchas que fazem o transporte de moradores de comunidades ribeirinhas. Funcionam como se fossem "ônibus aquÃferos". Só perguntar qual vai pro museu.
Se for optar por onibus, só pegar um que te deixe em Ponta Negra, que é bem próximo.
Na volta do museu sugiro curtir um pouco a praia de ponta negra, que tem um por do sol maravilhoso.
O museu abre de 9 as 16h. Barco: R$12 por pessoa. Museu: R$5 por pessoa.

Olá, Cristina!
Para visitar o Museu do Seringal, recomendo que vá de ônibus, pois além de ser um local de fácil acesso, esta é a opção mais barata. Para isso, basta tomar a linha 120 (sentido Praia da Ponta Negra), a qual passa em pontos de fácil acesso no centro da cidade: Avenida Getúlio Vargas, Terminal 1, Colégio Militar, entre outros. Você descerá no ponto final da linha, o qual dará acesso à Marina do David (cerca de 200 metros), sendo esta o principal ponto de acesso ao Museu.
Estive no Museu em novembro recente. Paguei R$ 12,00 por trecho (R$ 24,00 ida e volta), mais uma taxa de R$ 5,00 para entrada no Museu. Não esqueça, contudo, de avisar o barqueiro que você vai ao museu, pois esse é o meio de transporte de muitos locais que habitam a região. Então, dependendo do dia/hora, ele poderá seguir direto para outros pontos, sem parar no trapiche de acesso ao Museu.
O Museu é fantástico, pois constitui-se em memória viva que resgata e evidencia um pouquinho do que foi o Ciclo da Borracha, especialmente em relação à saga vivida pelos sertanejos neste perÃodo. Classificaria o passeio como imperdÃvel!
Recomendo que faça esse passeio no perÃodo da manhã, assim poderá visitar a Praia da Ponta Negra no perÃodo da tarde, uma vez que terá que passar obrigatoriamente pela mesma para acessar a Marina do David. Também é um lugar muito bonito, ótimo para curtir e fotografar o pôr do sol (que, por sinal, é cinematográfico!)

Olá! Aconselho fortemente a não contratar passeio, na verdade, a maioria dos passeios feitos por aqui dá pra fazer por conta própria e o melhor, muuuuuuuuuito mais em conta!!! Eu fui sozinha! Você tem que pegar um ônibus que vá para a "Marinha do Davi"(a marinha mais próxima ao hotel tropical) pode ir de ônibus mesmo,não tem erro, o 120 e (salvo engano) 450 param bem pertinho de lá, dá pra terminar o trajeto andando sem reclamar :D Aqui você já economiza no taxi rs Ah, esses ônibus podem ser pegos no centro da cidade, tem que ver por onde tu vais ficar pra saber a melhor trajetória.. enfim, na marinha, tem uns barquinhos que vão pra lá, aqui custa uns 12 a ida e mais 12 a volta, o que vale muito a pena, é um passeio pelo rio com paisagens belÃssimas, chegando lá, pagarás apenas uma taxa de R$5,00, o que acho bem justo para a manutenção do local, e é isso, bonÃssimo passeio!
