Took the water taxi from Alexandria to the Natl Harbor and back. It was a lovely ride - enjoyable. A bit pricey though. It's only about 25 minutes each way.

This riverboat service is very good but a bit expensive for normal pocket -especially for the duration of the trip from Alexandria to National Harbour which is about 20 minutes approximately. Can improve visitor acceptance with varying family pricing options if possible.

Great boat, fantastic booking cooperation (Sylvia Miller 443-573-0338) and perfect 2 hour cruise with open bar at a very reasonable cost

I’ve been on this cruise before and loved it. I live in the area but still
Learned a lot.
This weekend we could NOT hear the narration. The guy was using a bullhorn. The motor was so loud!!
We’d purchased tickets for August but our grandsons got sick. We were pleased they found be used for a year. HOWEVER in six weeks the price had gone up. Four tickets - up charge of $42. There should not have been an up charge of the tickets are good for a year!!
Loved the scenery. Beautiful day!
Watch your wallet with the company! And don’t expect to be able to hear!!

Excellent way to get to and from Mount Vernon. The cruise was nice with info along the way regarding sights we passed by. It is difficult to find where you need to board the boat, so they could use better directions/signage.

We did the Alexandria to Georgetown Monument trip and it was a real bust! You can't really see the monuments from the boat, except the Washington Monument. The engine is so loud that you can't hear the narration from their speakers. We even changed seats several times to see if we could hear better in another part of the boat. The staff and cleanliness of the boat was just fine.
Georgetown was underwhelming because we were expecting more shops and it's mostly just restaurants. There is a nice park near the dock for sitting.

I hardly know where to begin, so I'll write this review in bullet points.
* They gave no instructions on where to meet the boat on the pier (or which pier)_. People were walking up and down the pier asking for help. Even the restaurantworkers didn't know.
* There were no signs nor ticket booth.
*The snack bar wasn't open.
* The narration was pre-recorded coming out of fuzzy speakers. They omitted most of the sights (no Lincoln Memorial, etc?). All they explained was Watergate. This is not an informative tour.
*It's not so much that we wasted our money, it's that we wasted our time.

We took the cruise from Alexandria to Georgetown in the late afternoon. The trip was narrated well and there were some interesting facts conveyed. The views from the river of both banks were great. The ride back to Alexandria was impressive. It was after dark and the night views of the monuments was impressive.

Do you do 4 of July night cruise to see fireworks. I have around 50 people.

I have never visited during July, but I would be surprised if they do not operate on the 4th. I will add that with that many people you should probably contact them and see if you can get a group rate though. I know we had to buy our tickets individually, but these river boats can certainly hold 50 people. Good luck!!
Do you have Jon Boat rentals in January

No that is one month we do not travel. We are all about Christmas holidays and are busy hosting various groups and spending time with family and friends.

Are the water taxi's slow paced? I will be departing from the Wharf heading to the national harbor and am wondering if it's worth it to do the monument sightseeing tour first then water taxi to the national harbor? Or will the water taxi to national harbor be enjoyable enough, of course we won't see the monuments. For our family of five it's almost $200 to do both, so want to make sure it's worth it.

Visibility from the water is the same from all boats. The speed at which you go is the difference and water taxis are efficient.

Can I bring my dog on the water taxi

You definitely need to call the company. There were not any dogs on board when I cruised.
Hi! I have spent quite a bit of time on the company website, but can't figure out if a water taxi from national mall to Alexandria is included in the price of a round-trip Monuments tour from Alexandria to Georgetown. There is an asterisk that says water taxi is included, but it doesn't say where the departure point is, etc. Very confusing website.

Is the monuments cruise from Alexandria to the Washington Harbor (Georgetown, not the National Harbor) and enclosed vessel? Thinking of doing this March 18th to go to dinner in Georgetown, but if not enclosed it might be too cold. Thanks!

It is mostly enclosed. You should be fine. Nice way to see some of the monuments.

I just called the Potomac River Company, and they said they ran a very limited schedule during the winter months.
The Representative said the 2017 schedule had not been posted yet so he could not give me exact info.
They also have a website so you may contact them later in this year.
Hope you have a wonderful trip!
