- Dan LBunbury, Australia8,537 contributionsNamed after the National PatriotAnother short tour stop, probably because the park was closed to visitors at the time. It is named in honour of Philippine patriot, José Rizal, executed on December 30, 1896, for his opposition to Spanish rule. The monument in his honour enshrines his remains. according to information available to us, there are a number of other attractions in the park including fountains, monuments and a lagoon. Hope to return and enjoy the amenity for a longer period.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 December 2023

- Jason SMelbourne, Australia2,185 contributionsWell maintained Park, Full of HistoryWonderful Park that is located just outside the walled city, massive park that is extremely well maintained. Doubles up also as monument to Philippines independence with lots of other things to see and do. Large water feature in middle of park with many seats around so you can relax and enjoy the park. With gardens to enjoy also, it's such a great place to experience the history of Manila and the Philippines.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 17 March 2024

- County-HunterTacoma, Washington3,741 contributionsNice city parkWe stopped here on a city tour on our way to intramuros. It was way too hot unfortunately to spend much time, but we saw the guards guarding Rival's monument. Also, plenty of food vendors in case you get hungry or thirsty.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 August 2024

Wandered through here in the daytime and it’s a pleasant park but by accident I came back through in the evenings and was amazed to see the fountains, lights, flames erupting to music. A great sight and all for free.
Nice to see also the public toilets are free and stay open at each end of the park.

It was a Saturday when our cruise ship docked here for the day and we were warned that we should not go far away as traffic will be bad in this city. With the hot weather, we did not want to explore too far away and ended up at this park nearby. We spent a couple of hours here and had an amazing time seeing the different parts of this huge park. The memorials, the Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, all in all a good visit before getting back on the ship.

Rizal Park is a very nice large park located on the Manila Bay next to the Walled City of Intramuros in the Old City of Manila and is commemorating the life and work of Dr. Jose Rizal the most honored Pilipino patriot in its’ history. It is also the location where Dr. Jose Rizal was executed by a Spanish firing squad on December 30th, 1896.
At the entrance of the park you have the Rizal Monument which is a large Obelisk; this shrine is in honor of this national hero and most famous Filipino. Our guide told us that this is the most famous and most photographed monument in all of the Philippines.
In front of this statue is a Zero Marker which serves as a reference point for the distance from Manila to all other locations on Luzon Island and other cities across the Philippines.
The Rizal Park also contains massive green grass areas, gardens, trees, flag poles; ponds, walkways and more.
We found it to be a very relaxing park and full of history.

This park is named after Jose Rizal, a Philippine hero who risked his life to challenge Spanish rule. I visited for the first time in a while and was surprised by the sudden increase in health consciousness, with many people running from early in the morning. This is the place where Rizal was executed, but I was overwhelmed by the power of people dancing loudly from the morning. It is hot during the day, so it is deserted except for the shady areas.

Every Filipino must once in their life go visit Rizal Park otherwise known as "Luneta". Besides a standard photo beside the National Hero's memorial, kids must see the giant Philippine map, the various busts and statues of heroes and historical characters, and the different gardens surrounding the park. Both the Japanese and Chinese gardens are a pleasure to visit with their unique landscaping and cultural ambience. There are many sites for Instagrammable photos as if one is actually in another country. From the meditation garden and ponds, to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing marker, to the Confucius quotes on the bridge/pathway, the place is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It is a nice park in the morning, until probably 10 am. Then it becomes super crowded and stays like that during the day. There are a lot of people who try to sell you stuff, including buggy rides to the intramuros. Tell them no, because intramuros is definitely walkable and don't fall for their tricks. Just smile and say no thank you. Probably avoid at night, I mean it's full of beggars even in the day so I can really not imagine what occurs there at nighttime. I went to the Natural history museum there, it is definitely worth it! Not counting churches, its the cleanest place in Manila (the museum, not the park) :)

It's been a while since I last took a stroll in this park notwithstanding the fact that it's just a few minutes away from our house in Manila. The whole place seems cleaner now, but spaces where people can just sit down, relax and have a picnic are now limited. However, I'm glad that many of those places that I used to visit when I was a kid are still around, well-kept and open to the public. Not to miss, of course, are the monument dedicated to Dr. José Rizal (aka the "motto stella" where the national hero's mortal remains are collocated), the big flag and pole in front of it, the memorial where the hero was executed, the monument dedicated to the three priests popularly called "GOMBURZA", the Chinese Garden, the Centennial Clock and the Km 0 marker across the street, etc. One can practically spend the whole morning or afternoon just roaming around this park, and for free! Behind the Quirino Grandstand one may also visit the Manila Ocean Park for a fee. Not too far are some museums and the recently built Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach. However, finding a parking lot can be a bit of a problem.

Make sure you go to little oasis of trees across from the fountain. There is a little park in the park. Do you wonder what this city would be like if they had not cut down all the trees? In the little park in the park you are taken to a pristine and cool place. There were huge trees that made you feel peaceful and calm right in Manila. Worth going just to stroll though the little park. I am not for sure what they were but it seemed to be hundred of orchid plants there as well. They were not in bloom but hundred of numbered and labeled plants in the little park as well. When the city stress you out head to the little park you will feel at peace in the world.

Better to visit early morning or late afternoon when its cooler. An amazing park that is beautiful and enjoyable to walk around.
It also has history about Philippine's independence, it was awe inspiring.
Also the very cute ice cream buskers with their authentic trolleys offering 3 different choices for only 50 pesos. A wonderful trip and can be romantic.
Worth a visit for something simple and quiet.
