Central street in Kazan. If you start from the shopping mall you can just go all the way to the Kremlin and Mosque. A lot of different shops, cafés, restaurants and canteens with cheap (but good!) food. Also a lot of buskers.

Second - and unofficial - name of that street should sound like Kazan's Arbat (not Kazansky Arbat), in honour of the first pedestrian street in Moscow.
Me and my wife took a stroll down that nice and friendly ped-zone in mid-June. First we got there in the afternoon and then returned late in the evening. It's far better by night - lots of people, hawkers, street musicians, nicely illuminated buildings and pleasant sense of safety. No pickpockets, no goddamn conmen or diddlers! Stark contrast to Paris, London and especially Barcelona!
There are many quality restaurants with friendly prices there, quite a few quirky examples of street art but hardly a place to buy an authentic Russian or Tatar souvenir. To find them, try a so-called Tatar quarter instead (ask your guide).
Otherwise - strongly recommended!

Such streets I always rate average, as they're pretty much the same anywhere.
As its name says, it really reminds on Moscow's Arbat, but on a much smaller scale which I preferred.
Bauman is full of restaurants and souvenir shops, while several interesting monuments adorn the central part of the street.
The most interesting edifice along it is the Epiphany Cathedral.

We started our day on Bauman Street at the entrance where the Arabic clock is. Our son enjoyed feeding the pigeons and taking photos there. We then enjoyed the sights, shops, cafes, and street entertainers while leisurely walking down the street. We ended at the Kazan Kremlin where we entered the beautiful Kul Sharif Mosque. There’s so much to see and do at Bauman Street. There’s no way you can say you’ve visited Kazan without experiencing this place!

This is really people-watchers' paradise! A broad street, with no traffic, and plenty of people, locals and tourists, lots of families, lots of kids. Apart from that, there are plenty of interesting things to see on this street: the Kazan cat, Catherine the Great's carriage, the dragon monument, etc...etc... Not to mention the numerous restaurants, boutiques etc...etc... The ideal time for a casual stroll down this street is probably in the evening. I walked down the street in daytime, it was quite nice. If you are in Kazan for a couple of days, keep some time aside for this street! Well worth the effort.
