Incredibly interesting interactive museum showcasing all the best from Soviet life and culture. Huge amount of engaging and enjoyable exhibits and items, which can all be touched and tried on.
My personal favourite was trying on all the different Soviet army jackets and hats.
The owner was friendly and made the visit fun and interesting, his passion for Soviet culture really came across.
This museum is a must visit when in Kazan!
Thank you!

Very good place for nostalgia and knowing about everyday life and some staff of Soviet Union times. This museum is small but there are a lot of exhibits of clothes, shoes, hats - you can touch and try everything on you.
This Museum has paring tickets with special price offer with The Museum of Soviet Union childhood. But I think Soviet history museum is more interesting and completed, so it’s enough to visit only this one, it doesn’t necessary to go to Childhood museum.

Very nice museum showing Soviet lifestyle. As someone who was born after the USSR ceased to exist, the life of the everyday Soviet citizen has been a topic of interest to me. This small but really interesting museum shows quite a lot it. Try he manager is also very nice. Highly recommend it!

A small but interesting place very close to Bauman Street. This isn’t a ‘serious’ museum, it looks more like a shop. You can pick up and try on some of the outfits. Full of soviet kitsch and surprisingly large amount of guitars donated by famous rock stars from the 70s and 80s.

I've visited many such museums throughout eastern Europe and was really hesitating if to visit this one at all. What a mistake it'd be if I didn't !!!
This is not a boring, serious and facts only review of that era's life, which is mostly dark and leaves a bitter impression when you leave.
Contrary to that, this small museum is filled with fun. Apart from memorabilia of the Soviet era which are displayed in an interesting manner, you can dress in those era clothes, shoes and boots, soldier or police uniforms, play displayed instruments, etc....
Also, the lady working there (maybe she's an owner) was so pleasant, kind and fun, as well English speaking (all these are scarce in Russia) to explain and encourage us what to do.
Now, I regret I came only at 7PM and had only one hour (closing at 8PM) to explore this fun memory mine.
I strongly recommend this museum, right at the end of Bauman St to the right.

One rainy day in Kazan we had about an hour to kill before a tour started.

We decided to stop in and thought it would be a short look around....We were mistaken.

We quickly realized that we hadn’t enough to time, so we ended up coming back later that evening.

It is a pretty interesting place to spend a couple of hours just browsing and playing with the different pieces of Soviet life.

It was a very interactive place where you can touch and wear many of the items. They also have some interesting vintage souvenirs that are more unique.

I even got a piece of “black market” bubble gum from the 90’s!

They also have a rock ‘n roll hall of fame.

The owner (Rustem) was so friendly and passionate about the place that it is contagious. I really enjoyed the visit and would recommend it to anyone visiting Kazan. Worth a stop and give yourself more time than you’d think.
