This was a fun stop on a sightseeing tour of Boquete that our family took. It was fun for one of our boys to climb (not too high) on the interesting basalt wall, for some great pictures, and to get a cold coconut, with a hole chopped in the top for some refreshing coconut water (and then we got it chopped some more and had fresh coconut snack afterwards). I can imagine coming back here to do some real rock climbing when we have more time!

We went on a panoramic tour for this one, the story behind it is pretty cool and you can take pictures here.
Is used more than anything as a climber's practice wall.

This is a basalt wall of rock caused by volcanic activity. It is very interesting to look at - in 10 minutes you have it covered. It is also a popular place for climbers and it has some routes. Easy parking and it is free.

We don't climb but we do enjoy seeing natural sites of beauty. This spot is simply unique and any time we go this way we seem to just have to pull over and stare at it. Sometimes we can watch people climbing up the rock face and all seem to be enjoying this place.

great outoor routes that rate from 5.7-5.10+, at first glance appear easier than they are due to the step appearance. We went with a group that set up our top rope routes. We climbed here two days and it was a great time. Also other climbers that were there when we were were friendly and it was a fun atmosphere.

This is a geologic columnar basalt formation similar to the Giant's Causeway in Ireland. It is extremely fascinating and worth a short visit (10 minutes, unless you go with a climbing tour for a couple hours). It is referred to in some guidebooks as the El Gunko of Boquete, but the local Spanish name is Los Ladrillos; all the locals will know what you are talking about. Take a cab from town, or the Los Ladrillos bus. It's about an hour walk uphill from Boquete so I wouldn't recommend walking. If you are headed to the Tres Cascades (Three Waterfalls) hike in a tour vehicle or cab you will pass this formation on the way. A lot of the local rock climbing companies climb here. Note that the first formation you pass coming from the south is not the largest outcrop, head up the road a bit more. The formation is free to visit; expect to see other visiting cars parked on the side of the road. On your way back into town stop at Fresas' Cafe in Los Naranjos for a strawberry dessert.
