An excellent Rail Museum and a must visit. Good recollection of Japanese rail history and the Shinkansen. Even get to experience the future ride of the upcoming range of Shinkanzen in 2020. We visited in March 2017

The stations are very clean and trains arrive on time, Easy to find platforms, entries and exits. The shapes of the trains are fascinating.

I expects to be bored but this is a well done museum. Enough for kids and adults to appreciate and enjoy. Worth seeing.

It really is that good and easy to get to with a 350 yen ticket on the Aonami subway from the main station. There is a focus on modern things and much about how things work, with a number of hands on exhibits.
