A village surrounded by mountains. Abundant wood In the morning, you can experience the romantic atmosphere, see the mist floating above the reservoir, relax in the comfort of a tea plantation such as Lee Wine Rak Thai Resort, see the Yunnan Chinese way of life, taste a variety of teas, and eat delicious Yunnan Chinese food. Food such as pork knuckle Spicy mushroom tea salad with fried shiitake mushrooms and stewed chicken with Chinese medicine is another great place to escape the hustle and bustle. Find tranquillity

Interesting spot and worth a detour. Peaceful location if you are there when there are no tours visiting. Nice to stroll around the lake. Good views and photo material..

Visit this place in the morning. The views over the lake are more quiet with the sun in your back. Beautiful and very picturesque

Little China village
Oct 2019 • Couples
It took 1h37 to come here with many dangerous curves. But the way was so amazing.
The noodle in Ban Rak Thai make me so good. Maybe it’ll better to come here on the weekend

Stunning little village near the Mynamar border with a beautiful small lake in the middle. Fantastic scenery,Spotlessly clean. Friendly locals. Just wish I had more time to stay and explore a bit more.

1864 turns in the road to Mae Hong Son not enough? Add 242 more and go to Baan Rak Thai!
Sep 2019
If you do not love tea, or do not appreciate its subtleties, but you love to relax, then Baan Rak Thai might only be a four-star experience. If you can tick off two or more of those boxes, then go enjoy a day or three at BRT. Yes, it is "just a little tourist town around a little lake" - those people are right, as far as it goes. But unlike some Thai destinations that are driven by good marketers, BRT has some real "there" there, and it is worth the extra drive. There are the tea farms, the (overly cutsie, but you gotta-do-it) hillside Chinese hotel amidst its own little tea farm, the tea shops where you simply buy bulk teas, and also actual tasting shops, where a ceremony of sorts plays out as you gaze over the lake into the hills beyond while mind-blowing teas are prepared for you to compare. You can boat on the lake, stay in two or three (unadvertised, but rarely full) hotels lakeside, eat excellent Thai, Chinese and Western food in several (also unadvertised) restaurants lakeside, or just sit, have tea and stare at the lake.

I recommend this place for those with hypertension...if you can't relax and lower that systolic here, there is little hope. BRT Relaxation is deep and serene and smells heavenly!

And Baan Rak Thai is one of only two places outside China where i can find my favorite tea dependably. Even the mighty Tien Ren's worldwide network no longer can get me Lushan-Clouds-and-Mist tea, but BRT's last tasting house on the right can!!!! Worth the drive!

Unique and getting better

Nice village on the lake side, many small houses in a unique architecture . The lake is being surrounded by shops and good looking restaurants, and more are being built. The Cappuccino coffee is excellent.

Little Yunnan

Quite touristy. This historical place is about how the KMT (Kuo Ming Tang) army came here to seek refuge and the legacy they left. Lots of dried products sold here especially tea leaves. This is a haven for tea drinkers.
