I was here last week on my way back to Seminyak from a day trip in Ubud. I thought that its gonna be a big coffee farm and I was really going to see the whole coffee-making process. But it wasn't anything like it.
The girl greets you at the entrance, shows you a couple of coffee trees, shows a Civet in a cage, then shows an old lady roasting and a kid grinding the beans. The whole area was about 150 sqm, then they take you to a tasting area nearby where you get to taste 5 different coffees and 5 different teas. Then there's a shop on the way out where you can buy the products.
The whole thing looked 'staged' and the coffee was way too sweet. I asked the girl if they had a bigger farm elsewhere, she said yes, but then I wonder, why didn't they just show us that?

On first day in Ubud, guided by a driver of the staying villa. There was no entry fee and English spoken guided tour in small woods, its about 5〜8 min walk. Then showed a pair of animal produce Luwack coffee, tried coffee roasting and tasting.
Cup of Luwack coffee was
50000LP. I did not tast any sensation. I am not capable to analize, that was first experience, though. Thing to remark is that those price at the shop was about five times or more expensive as the price in daily super market. That driver never show up untill we left the villa. I suppose he on purposely took us there at time we were naive about ordinary maket price. This was only unpleasant event during our stay in Ubud.
They should charge reasonable entrance fee and price marchandises right, I suggest.

Our local guide recommended this place and we couldn't resist when we heard coffee. It is a small place with a short 15 minute guide of the different types of plants and spices grown locally. They have some mongoose kept in cages to show tourists which is sad but unfortunately not uncommon treatment of animals in Bali. The highlight was the tasting experience at the end. We got to try 14 different types of tea and coffee, all of which were amazing! We also tried 3 types of delicious chocolate. All of which were complimentary. We were also offered the famous Kopi Luwak, at only $5 a cup (charged at between $30-$90 in London and New York). You must try this coffee! Delicious!! We weren't expecting mongoose excrement coffee to taste so good. Worth the price. We ended up spending $100 in the gift shop and got two big bags full of different goodies which was value for money, but at no time felt under any pressure to buy anything by the staff. We even purchased Kopi Luwak for friends and family. Would highly recommend to any coffee and tea enthusiasts, and would definitely go back again.

I was expecting this to be a large coffee plantation in my head, and while it was small, I still really enjoyed it. It was also free for the tour and tasting, which I hadn't planned on, so that was cool too. The guide is really friendly and helpful, since I was asking so many questions.
I just loved the little animals, they are a mix between a cat and raccoon, so cute. However, the cage seemed to be small and ratty, I think for something that earns you money you should have them a big space to run around and play in.
I wasn't expecting spice, so that was really nice since I love stuff like that. They have all kinds of spices and even real cocoa beans, very neat. We got to try about 12 drinks I think, coffees and teas.
The kopi luwak was VERY strong. I've had it before, but when I bought it I had no idea how you make it at home. I asked this time, and you make it like Turkish coffee, it's actually even stronger than Turkish coffee, and not that good really, and I'm a coffee snob, but still I LOVED the experience. The teas were also really good, and we ended up buying some coffee and teas, the coconut was our favorite, and lemon grass tea.YUM, so much fun.

I was expecting to see an authentic coffee plantation when I hired our guide, but we were brought here. I should have known better. We did taste a variety of coffees for free, yet there was a definite expectation that we purchase some coffee beans on the way out. I didn't. They didn't like that.
