Gaurav is a truly Varanasian who give you the opportunity to make the most of your trip. Our daily tour which we took in mid October 2021 was quite good. Gaurav-ji was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We particularly enjoyed walking with him through the old city as well as along the Ganga river as he knows all locals around and makes you feel at home. Highly recommended!

Having visited Varanasi twice before and India on numerous occasions for up to seven months at a time since 1994 I was delighted how the walking tour to north area brought Varanasi alive to me.
Gaurav has an extensive knowledge with a passion for both the visitor and Varanasi that shines through.
Don't miss the wonderful chai stop.
A must do.

My family and I staid for one week at Mother Hostel, the service aw received was excellent. The hostel is very clean and the Khanna family were kind and thoughtful and would go out of there way to help. I would recommend this hostel and tour company.

Gaurav is awesome and he is more than a guide, like a friend for you in Varanasi. Tour was amazing, we 've seen all the important places. His knowledge is perfect about Varanasi. Thank you very much Gaurav, hope to see you again.

We met Gaurav through the home stay he runs together with his family, he seemed friendly enough at first offering to show us around the local area even if we didn't want to do his city tour but it didn't take long to see through this facade. He was constantly offering to give my girlfriend massages and always wanted to come into our room uninvited so he could sit on our bed and tell us how how great he is. I understand that some people could like him but the fact that he was hitting on my girlfriend by constantly offering her massages made us feel pretty awkward. If you are a young single girl and want this sort of attention then go for it but otherwise be careful!

We arrived in Varanasi on the 6th of Jan 2016. Myself, my parents, best friend (all Australian) and boyfriend (British) were greeted by Gaurav and he offered to be our tour guide for two days. In Varanasi it's very important to get a guide but do not accept this offer if you meet him! We were all unhappy with his services, attitude, lack of knowledge and his constant gloating. He claimed to have 40+ excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and we have since realised this was about his company and not directly about him. Within the first 10 minutes of meeting us he was quick to hit on my best friend. Even after she explained her boyfriend was home in Australia he said "well he must be very jealous of your sexy Indian tourist guide! And he doesn't need to know."
On the first day we had Gaurav and Vishnu. Gaurav kept putting Vishnu down because of his lack of English. However Vishnu was soooo kind, helpful, patient and very attentive to us all constantly keeping an eye out for us in the tiny alleyways and making sure we didn't get lost, where as Gaurav just walked on ahead, barely looked back and didn't even stop to help us cross busy roads.
Gaurav thinks very highly of himself and repeatedly reminded us that; "he is very famous man all over the world, he studied history for 3 years" and "he knows the best English and not the funny American English" - with all this in mind he barely gave us a straight answer to any of our questions, whether it be about the history of Varanasi or simple details about his day tour he continually just told us to go on the website and read it for ourselves, even after we told him that we didn't have internet on our phone and that the wifi wasn't working. Extremely frustrating.
On the second night, being fully aware that my boyfriend is British, he took it upon himself to give us a lecture on all the horrible things that that my "boyfriend's people" had done to India. We are all well aware of this history (the good and the bad points) and found it unnecessary.
We were also really disappointed that at the end of all of this we still decided to give him what we had researched to be a fair and decent amount of money for his time with us, only to have him take the money and literally turn his back and walk away. He did not say goodbye or thank you to any of us, leaving us in complete shock. What a sad way to end our time in Varanasi.
In hindsight we should have said something to him earlier about his attitude however any suggestions we did make were met with a very defensive response. The only saving grace of this tour was when Gaurav abandoned us after lunch on the first day and Vishnu took us to a fantastic market place, stayed with us the whole time and made sure we got safely back to our hostel.

Puts pressure on you the whole time to take him in for services, and asks for money for everything.
Always has a little scheme on the back of his head and doesn't respect your privacy either.
Money is his some motivator.
Asks you to write a good review afterwards, and makes sure you write a really good one.

When you want to understand what is Varanasi, Gaurav is your man.
We scheduled a tour with Gaurav to see the ghats and the aarti, but since they were fluded, Guarav made us a reservation to see it from a nearby rooftop. As well, we got a general explanation of the city. The rest he kept for his grand tour of the old city.
Starting at 930 in the morning precisely, we embarked on a 4 hours walking tour to see what Varanasi has to offer. With his great knowledg and familiarity with the people and the city, Guaruav took us to the places you have to see. From hidden Temples to the crematorium to various viewing points. He is your guy.
Just tell him his Nike brother sent you.

Coming into my weekend visiting Varanasi i was not sure what i would do or how i would navigate around the city and see everything i wanted to see. I found Gaurav online and he connected with me promptly after expressing interest in his full day tour. He called and gave me all the information i wanted beforehand so i felt comfortable arriving in Varanasi. He was a terrific guide who has vast knowledge of the city and how to navigate around. I would not come to Varanasi without having him be your tour guide!

Hi, i am planning to visit Varanasi between Feb 29th, and March 2nd (only staying 2 nights)
I would like to know if you can provide me some information on how to book a city tour (email address or web site), and some details about what it is the best to do in this very short time.
I appreciate your help.
Carlos.

Hi Carlos, you can find Gaurav's contact info right here: varanasigangatour.website/contact
At that link you can also find out about the major attractions in Varanasi. I highly recommend going to the cremation grounds, boat ride on Ganga and there are also many temples worth visiting especially if you're a spiritual seeker.
