Was Walking By - Stopped to take a look

The building is huge but the displays are quite limited. There is a bit of inspirational Chinese art but overall I’d suggest visiting or revisiting the Chengdu or Sichuan museums rather than checking out the art museum.

Nice Space for Viewing
Oct 2017 • Couples
Situated in the heart of the city, this four storey art space is free to enter (but you will need to show your passport). Well lit, spacey galleries show of some of China's brightest artists. A great place to wander on a wet day.

Cultural Experience
Jul 2017 • Friends
Since I went to travel to Chengdu. My first stop was to go to see this Museum. Since my job is in the arts I found myself indulged on the different style and culture differences and similarities. I do suggest to take your time like half a day, if you want to go and enjoy it. If not just one hour or two will be enough I guess.

Classical and modern art
Apr 2017 • Solo
The art museum features classical and modern art from the region. The architecture of the building is impressive from the outside and inside. There is no entry fee but a passport is required for the ticket to be issued. There are six exhibition halls on five levels. Be aware that there is no English translation for the general information or the descriptions next to every artwork.

A good collection of politycal art
Aug 2016 • Couples
The sontuos building makes you think of a Museum of Modern art, but it is only about politycal art pieces. Strong farmers, pasionarias, hard working crowds and revolution leaders. All within the context of different chinese environments.each explanation rigorously in mandarin language, which makes at least fun to interact with local visitors.

Impressive building from the outside, not much inside
Mar 2016 • Solo
This building is impressive on the outside, but once in the architecture and the exhibits are not very impressive. There are 4 floors and only 3 had material displayed, each with a limited number of paintings. Some paintings were really nice, but overall the museum is disappointing. Free entrance.

Great Paintings & Woodcuts
Sep 2015 • Solo
I firmly believe in internationalism and a museum of this ilk in a major Chinese city should have gallery labels in English as well as Chinese. It's location right next to Tianfu Square, will ensure that many tourists visit it as well as locals. The paintings on the ground floor are impressive, but most obviously celebrate Chinese military prowess. Not being able to read Chinese, I had no idea about any of them after my visit. I would have liked to learn more! The impressive collection of woodcut prints celebrates both war and the joys of rural struggle. A recently renovated building that took 5 years???
