Only had an afternoon to Laoshan scenic area and did the cable car ride and hike to top of mountain. It was magnificent and well worth the trip. About an hour from the CBD so you really need at least a full day with an...More

It takes around an hour to get there from downtown by car. Public bus is also available, but runs around two hours. Mountain itself is not too high, climbing is relatively easy since route is well-made. There are two main ways to the top, one...More

This scenic area is away from the city center, we were on an organized group tour, therefore getting there was not a problem. The route from the city center to the scenic area was beautiful, lined with well attended shrubs, trees and flowers. A transfer...More

I'm a little confused about some of the procedures for Laoshan mountain and the various routes. I understand how to get to Laoshan by city bus, and then you pick one of 3 routes to areas that interest you. I see each route as having several points of interest, such as Taiqing Palace, Yakou Temple, etc. But does the bus physically stop at each of these points of interests and let people off? Do you need to tell the bus driver where you want to get off in advance? Or does it take you to the top, then you can walk to the different points of interest on your way back? I would greatly appreciate any info on the subject, as I've found widely different information from English websites and cannot read Chinese. Thanks!
