Relax in a director's chair and enjoy a cool drink at our tropical garden theatre. It seats just 40 people. Watch a fun new take on a great tradition– the Cambodian Bambu Puppets. The twelve puppeteers have been working hard to revive an old tradition and make it relevant for the 21st century, mixing old techniques with new technology. Wild and just a little bit crazy, they present a 50-minute show- from traditional stories to moody experimental works and physical theatre where the puppets leap from the screen. They introduce each character and puppeteer so the audience can identify the action, and they speak in both English and Khmer. This is a great opportunity to support gifted dancers as they learn new skills and tell their stories from the heart of Cambodia. They are either senior high school or university students or rice farmers.

This was my first time to see shadow puppets and I can definitely recommend it. The $18 entrance fee is a little steep compared to other activities in Siem Reap, particularly as the show is just one hour long. Perhaps a lower ticket price and...More
