Traditional Khmer Incense Workshop & Blessing

Incense is a important part of Khmer religious and cultural life. Our tour gives guests a unique opportunity to connect to the source of this tradition - a tradition that was nearly lost during the Khmer Rouge. While many in modern society now purchase cheap, imported incense, the art form is still practiced by some elderly individuals. Participating in this tour calls attention to it and encourages the younger generation to take pride in this centuries old practice.

Really enjoyed seeing “life on the lake” after the flooding. My tour guide was well spoken and able to share a lot of insight I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. It was quite fascinating being the only foreigner there due to Covid restriction. I recommend a visit if you have at least 2 days in the town.

After having studied about Tonle Sap during high school, it was amazing to have seen and been at this place in person! Awesome experience! And to have watched the sunset as well...?! I mean... totally speechless at that moment. I’ll forever remember THAT moment. Highly recommended.

The minority stilt village is open to tourists enroute to Tonle Sap Lake. Highly recommend walking through the village for 30 minutes to meet the children who enjoy life to the fullest. Bring soccer balls, pumps, notebooks, pencils, and candies for the children; they'll flock to you and be very appreciative. Bring as many items as you can carry. You'll be happy you did!

Well worth going away from all the people in the towns to the quiet of the lake. Our AboutAsia guide took us for our final morning in Cambodia to the fishing villages on stilts by theToni sap lake.Kampong Phluk shows you how these people live high up in their houses on stilts with the women and young children at home and the men out fishing. We were fortunate to climb up a house ladder and see their home which was much bigger than we thought it would be.In the rainy season the river has been known in a bad year to go over the roof tops.Very cheerful people in the houses smiling and waving. Our guide gave them a little money to say thank you. Then we returned to our car and were driven to the boat where we had a quiet couple of hours on the lake and a picnic. We learnt more about the dreadful civil war fought between the Khmer Rouge and the Vietnam Kong.So many people died.

We splurged on a private tour to the less-touristy Kompong Khleang & loved it. Our guide (Arun) & driver (Mr Pin) were both fantastic & friendly, Arun explained everything & was able to answer all our questions. We went with Beyond Unique Escapes. The local village markets were eye-opening, & seeing the village during the dry season with all the houses high up on stilts was amazing...it would be equally amazing to see it during the wet season when you'd need a boat to traverse the main street! The people were friendly & we loved this taste of traditional everyday Cambodian life. I highly recommend this tour & this tour company, we loved it.
