About
Standing over 2,700 feet and 163 floors high, this record-breaking skyscraper in downtown Dubai is the tallest structure in the world. Burj Khalifa has several open-air viewing decks and swanky lounges which offer splendid views of the UAE and the Persian Gulf. The highest lounge is located at level 154, and there is even a hotel at levels 38 and 39. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architects, this mixed-used development atop Dubai Mall is inspired by the Great Mosque of Samarra in Iraq. You might want to buy skip-the-line tickets or join a tour to avoid snaking queues at this popular attraction in Dubai. – Tripadvisor

Top ways to experience Burj Khalifa
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

    Atmosphere Lounge Breakfast
My breakfast experience at Atmosphere Lounge was truly exceptional, and I owe much of it to the outstanding service provided by Suhar, our attentive and courteous waiter. From the moment my partner and I arrived, Suhar went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Not only did he take the time to capture beautiful photos of us throughout the meal, but he also surprised us with a complimentary honeymoon cake, adding an extra touch of sweetness to our morning. Suhar's attentiveness and genuine care made our visit unforgettable, and we are incredibly grateful for his dedication to making our day so special.

    Impressive Structure with Amazing Views
The world's tallest building is a spectacular sight and definitely worth a visit. We opted for the more expensive At The Top/Sky which includes a visit to the open air 148th floor in addition to the 124/125th floors that you visit with regular tickets. There is a Sky Lounge on the 148th floor where you can get a drink and this more expensive ticket includes a shorter wait to make your way to the observation decks. I think it is worth it but don't think you are just going to show up and hop on an express elevator right to the top. We made the mistake of budgeting 90 minutes to visit the Burj and the Dubai Fountain. You should set aside 2 1/2-3 hours. First it was extremely confusing and time consuming to find the entrance to the Burj in the massive Dubai Mall. You still have a lot of waiting and standing in line for several different elevator before you reach the 148th floor and it's the same process to get down. Even with the VIP ticket, we spent an hour trying to find the entrance and getting up and down from the observation decks. Spent about 30 minutes at the top and didn't have time for a drink. We ended up missing the Dubai Fountain show that we had purchased tickets for that evening in the prime viewing area (which by the way is completely unnecessary). Again, definitely worth experiencing but hopefully you can plan your visit better from our mistakes.

An Architectural Marvel In Glass & Steel
Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on earth, with a skyrocketing height of 829.8 m has a very interesting history behind its name, which was originally planned to be called The Burj Dubai. If you know why, do share it in the comments. This icon is on everyone’s Dubai itinerary and we had a stupendous view of this skyscraper on Day 2 of our UAE visit. This concrete, steel and glass building looked stunning as it glistened in the Dubai Sun. The architecture of this structure to me was very familiar and I knew why when I realised that it was designed by a team led by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the same firm that designed the Sears Tower in Chicago, a previous record holder for the world’s tallest building and one of my favourite structures in Chicago, of which there is a detailed post earlier about this cigarette pack design. While the architecture is a treat to observe, however, you can also sit beside the [artificial] lakeside, sip some coffee and do some people watching. And once it gets dark, the sound and light show projected on the tower is a marvel. Just beside, on the lake, the Dubai Fountain is another wonder to watch. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 coloured projectors, it is 270 m long and shoots water 150 m into the air while accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and other music . It holds the record for the world’s largest choreographed fountain. Designed by WET Enterprises this fountain system cost Dh 800 million (US$217 million). The Burj Khalifa has got several records to it's forte, including, Tallest existing structure: 829.8 m Tallest structure ever built: 829.8 m Tallest freestanding structure: 829.8 m Tallest skyscraper Building with most floors: 163 World's highest elevator installation (situated inside a rod at the very top of the building) World's longest travel distance elevators: 504 m World's tallest structure that includes residential space World's highest installation of an aluminium and glass façade: 512 m World's highest nightclub: 144th floor World's highest restaurant (At.mosphere): 122nd floor at 442 m World's highest New Year display of fireworks World's largest light and sound show staged on a single building While both the Burj Khalifa sound and light show along with the Dubai Fountain is absolutely a free treat, if you want to see the city from the observation deck, you need to purchase tickets to At The Top, Burj Khalifa tickets. Our travel partner had booked us into that, but the experience was not good as it was promised.

What a view, go to the 154th floor
We did the 154 floor experience and feel it was worth it, the view is incredible, and you are not rushed at all. You can take your time and enjoy the view with some food and drinks, plus you get access to the aquarium also. Make sure you get the emirates discount with your boarding pass and ID

Good experiece but not as great as i expected
I liked seeing it from Dubai Mall than going on top. Its heavily crowded even during hot summer. Its always nice to see from 124th floor but because of crowd and price, i didnt felt as great as i thought.

    Just Awe Inspiring
Had a great morning - headed here early - was tempted by the idea of going later to see the sunset/darkness/lights but the promise of short queues early was a winner and we hardly queued. Saw so much and we learnt alot. A must do for a Dubai trip.

    Amazing views
Amazing views. We paid for the 148 floor access and definitely worth it. A lot less queueing (and we had booked for 6.30pm with the standard queues still very long) The views were amazing make sure you go to the viewing area where you can take pictures without looking through the glass. Can easily be missed.

    Nice
We came on holiday in Dubai so we thought we have to do this, so we said if we ever come here, we will come here and we did. It was okay We paid a lot to get in here as we went VIP to level 148 which is the highest you can go and then you can go up and down all the floors and stay for a few hours. On some of the floors is snacks and drinks which you can help yourself and then just leave when you want. Probably wouldn't come here again as once you have done it you don't really want go back

    Grat Shopping and view
This is a place you should go to see, there is the Shopping Mall attached to this building, in my opinion it is a better place than Dubai Mall to shop in. There is a Ski field that you will not believe until you see it. Make sure you go to the Cheese Cake Factory and sit by the window looking into the ski park.

It was awesome. The view and everything was just outstanding. We took a lot of photos in on the top. We had a view of a really big part of the city. Our guide (Furqan) told us a lot of things about this (he was amazing).

I've been to quite a few major view points in the world and this experience was one of my least favorite. We did the basic package at 7pm that came with the aquarium ticket. I had hoped we'd catch a little daylight but in July it was already dark when we got up there. The issue with evening was that most of the windows are really reflective so it's hard to take any decent pictures of the views. It was overcrowded when we went as well in the low season so where you could take pictures you had to wait and then when you got a chance you felt pressured by the next row of people to get their turn. It did take about 45 minutes of lines to get up and probably the same or more to get down. Staff was friendly but a few people in line were rude as most long lines tend to have and then you get stuck with them. Because of the crowds someone came to let us use other elevators, but it probably just made it longer to get down for us. It was the longest we've ever waited to leave a tower and that line at times also blocked the viewing area which in parts is narrow. The ride up has a little video screen and you get up very fast but there is no outside view from the elevator like say the CN tower. We couldn't see the palm at night from the tower so we ended buying another ticket over there which was a great experience, but extra cost after already doing this one.

The Burj khalifa is great to see from the fountain area below and you should definitely see it there.

Maybe if you did early morning it might not be so crowded and the views would be better. I didn't try the premium view prices, but didn't like that on principle.

We had planned to visit the tower, aquarium, and Dubai mall (all same complex) on the day we arrived midday and it worked but plan at least 6 hours to do it without any shopping. We got back to our hotel around midnight. 1.5 days in Dubai wasn't really enough.

This is all about the view obviously, which is just as well as the customer service experience was lacking. First of all DON,T buy tickets elsewhere, you don’t get an actual ticket, just a voucher to transfer for a ticket. We bought tickets at the premises, the queue to exchange vouchers was very very long and we jumped way ahead as the queue to buy tickets there was non existent. If you’re going to do this pay the extra and go above floors 124 / 125. This gives you VIP access and you jump the queues for lifts. VIP is misleading, you go to a separate waiting room where refreshments are on hand, this was organised chaos and left a lot to be desired. People were getting in the wrong queues, signage was non existent and some staff didn’t appear to appreciate what was going on.
Try and avoid if you can the Americans who believe they are entitled to push their way to the front at every opportunity despite people standing in queues, unbelievably rude.
The lift ride was very smooth and quick and the view is amazing, that’s what you pay for, I would have thought given the reputation of Dubai the organisation would have been second to none, but staff were not very helpful, signage was unclear and this detracted slightly from the experience
