Top ways to experience At The Top, Burj Khalifa
The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

Lots of tourists. Getting help from our excellent tour guide was definitely a big help. Nice to see some history before the ascent, and showing appreciation to the brains and brawn behind the project , by presenting several galleries. Photo Ops galore.Visited November 2023Travelled on businessWritten 11 November 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,617 contributionsSunrise Experience for the WalletGoing up the Burj Khalifa can be pricey depending on the date and time so the Sunrise + Morning Treat Package was something we chose to save some money. To get to the At the Top area we went to the Fashion Avenue entrance by Cartier at Dubai Mall. The security will open doors for Dubai Mall before 5:30 am and our entrance opened around 5:15 am but we saw people who had gotten up there earlier. Getting here early meant we got an elevator all to ourselves but if we had to wait there were enough things to look at and read in an exhibition hall before the elevator. The Sunrise experience only gets you access to the 124rth floor but there's a nice terrace and we got a pretty good sunrise. You can stay here as long as you want and many people were camping out in the window frames for the viewing spots. Outside of the terrace there's not much - there is a gift shop, a cafe, bathrooms and some TVs displaying facts and statistics about the Burj Khalifa. The gift shop is underwhelming and the cafe was closed while we were up there. There are other ticket packages but they can get expensive so do your research and choose what you'd like. The queue to get down wasn't managed well and people were crowding the elevators that go up and down. We felt they could have used a couple of staff to let people know where to wait to go down so that people could disembark the elevators more easily and the area didn't get too crowded. We felt people were pushy to get in the elevators so we had to wait a bit even though we were one of the first to get line up to go down. The treat at the cafe was nice and you had a choice between several hot and cold beverages including coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice with many options for each. The treat also included a pastry and we had cheese puffs, chicken puffs and some sort of cheese/chicken pie to choose from. A big perk for us getting here so early was that we got unobstructed pictures near the Dubai Fountains of the Burj Khalifa after we came down and they were perfect. It does not matter which ticket package you buy but it is recommended to purchase in advance. At the Top is located in Dubai Mall near a food court and the signage is very helpful to lead the way. To get here you could use the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station which is about a 15-20 minute walk but it is covered and air conditioned.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 November 2023
- AYESHADubai, United Arab Emirates91 contributionsWe are AT THE TOPThe view from the top of Burj Khalifa is breathtaking, offering beautiful panorama of the city. Understanding construction journey (year wise) adds depth to the experience & providing a closer look at its incredible engineering. Consider opening additional floors to the public, especially with the 124th floor ticket prices, to reduce queues & improve the overall experience. ▪️Purchase your entry tickets online beforehand. ▪️Arrive at the site an hour before your selected time (expect long queues) ▪️Single time see spot only [as a chance to witness the world’s tallest building]Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 December 2023

I purchase tickets for At the Top online at least 1 month prior to visiting. We booked the afternoon slot at 1pm. Despite having booked online we still had to wait in a very long line to pick up the tickets which took around 30minutes then it took a further 20 minutes to go through security and take a photo, we told them we didn’t want a photo taken, I’ve been to enough tourist attraction and refuse as we know it’s just another money making tactic, but this attraction insists you have a photo taken, this doesn’t seem right at all, one should have the right to refuse their photos been taken. We then had to wait in another very long line to get into a small lift (only 2 small lifts go up and down to the 124-125 floors). 1hour and 40minutes later we finally get to the 124 floor which was overcrowded, dangerously overcrowded in my opinion and just too many people to enjoy any of the views. We ended up only staying there for 10 minutes as we weren’t enjoying it at all. We joined the que for the lift to go down which took us another painful 1hour and 10 mins, with people pushing in the que too.
Summary: If you have 4 hours to spare and you like long ques this is the place. Or you could spend more money and upgrade to a VIP ticket which will fast track you through the long ques.
This being all said, the Burj Khalifa is a spectacular building no doubt. A superb piece architecture, it really looks amazing! However I’m hoping they can better the At the Top experience.

We heard wonderful reviews and decided to go to Burj Khalifa - At the Top. We had purchased tickets online and the slot given to us was 2.00 pm. We were at the venue at 1.45 pm. There was no proper queue. People were standing in what it looked like 3 separate queues. We were also asked to stand in one of them. 2 pm was long gone but they didn’t care about it. We were a party of 13 including 4 kids (all below 7 years of age). When it was our turn they asked only two of us the go ahead and the rest of us could wait ( no reason given). Two of us went in and after what it seemed like eternity the online tickets were ‘converted’ to paper tickets. After we got these we were again asked to wait in the queue (same queue we had waited before, but this again at the end of the line) with the paper tickets. Another eternity passed before we were given entry. It was already past 4.30 pm by this time.
And between all of this there are many people we see who just cut in the middle of the queue and neither an authorized person sees this nor does anybody complain about it.
We respect the queues, but at Burj Khalifa do not expect ‘first come first serve’ unless you want to buy the ‘no wait queue ‘ for three times the price.
So regular people like us who spend hard earned money can wait in the endless queues because their time is not valuable to Burj Khalifa.
Sorry folks but we had to vent out about the extreme apathy towards visitors’ time and patience.
I would give less than a star if there was a choice.

Burj Khalifa - At The Top was the highlight of the Dubai trip. We had pre-booked the combo tickets to the Burj and underwater zoo & aquarium. We had booked the 3 pm slot with an idea to enjoy the view during daylight and also get to see the sunset before descending down. We first collected the tickets from the counter near the underwater tunnel in the Dubai mall. We had to take the lift from the LG level to the 124/125th floor. Both floors are interconnected through a staircase & hence you can take any lift. We reached the top in less than a minute which is amazing. The view from the top is awesome and the sunset view was the cherry on the cake.

Visiting Dubai for the first time my husband and I decided to visit the Burj khalifa.
We looked at various options before traveling there and came across tea in the clouds. This allows you VIP access to skip the queues and you get to visit floor's 152/154.
On arrival you are shown into a dark, not welcoming room to wait to be escorted upstairs.
We was left in queues and started getting anxious that despite arriving at 11.50am for our 12.30 high tea that we still hadn't got into the lift at 12.45.
After complaining, after another wait we finally was taken to floor 154 and passed a glass of fruit juice and told to wander around for two hours.
We finally found out that the tea and sandwiches etc are served two floors down.
I was expecting nice tables but instead you sit in a small lounge type area, and passed some sandwiches and buns but also a long table filled that you can help yourself to.
I was expecting some really nice cakes, pastries but was instead given cheap and tasteless food, really not great.
As for the views, truthfully not really much to see.
Yes you are higher up than any other buildings but truthfully if you have ever visited anywhere like the empire state building or similar, it's not really apparent that you are higher up.
Also when I've visited places like new York, London etc you get things to see high up from things like central park, statue of liberty, London st Paul's, Buckingham palace. At the top of the Burj khalifa in the distance you can see the Palm but not really much to see at all.
If you have never been up a high building you might like it, but if like me you have, then this is a huge disappointment. Not much to see inside, poor service and poor food. It's bigger than other buildings but not better.
It's an impressive building on the outside so my advice would be to visit it to see but don't go in.

A truly amazing building being the tallest free standing structure in the world. We booked the VIP experience which whilst expensive we considered value for money as it included a fulsome afternoon tea and allowed us to go to the very top of the building. Remarkable to be one top of the world’!

We went to the 124 floor as a family of 4. The original date when we had to travel got postponed and the team at burj kindly allowed us to reschedule the tickets as they have no refund policy.
The experience - entrance is through the dubai mall and usually at holiday season is packed, so, please be ahead of time. You then are taken by a lift to the 124 floor where you are walk into an open balcony of sorts to take pictures and enjoy the view.
Highlight - we saw the dancing fountains from the top which was interesting.
Tickets are pricy but it is a worth an experience.

Excited to be on the tallest building, the overall experience was however just about okay. The view is good from 124/125th floor, the weather defines what you see or what you miss and there is no predicting that. Discussed and debated whether we should go in the morning or evening, we finally chose the morning with breakfast.
Since we had booked online, the queue was limited and rushed through to the escalator which takes you to the viewing floor. Both floors offer good view around and some photo opportunities.
The breakfast was not available at the cafe on the 124th floor which was a dampener. It was on the lobby level after finishing the tour.
At AED 115 for a photo with the Burj Khalifa in the background, it is robbery !

We had tickets to the Lounge, which lets you visit floors 152, 153 and 154. The views are great, especially after dusk once the city lights come on. Most of the views are through glass windows though, which creates difficulties for photographers due to marks on the glass or light reflections from within. There is one balcony viewing platform, from where you can get good photographs of the city.
There is a separate queue for the Lounge ticket holders, which makes it quicker to get to these floors. The drinks and canapes are passable. In my opinion, the ticket prices are steep in relation to the overall experience.

Amazing views even on a hazy day!
Definitely a must when in dubai, but manage your expectations.
Queues everywhere. Firstly you queue to collect your tickets around 10-15 minutes, then you leave to go back at your allotted time, where the queue can be around 30 minutes +
Home people seem to just queue jump or just walk up to the desk in front of you, which is annoying.
We went through security and made our way towards the lifts.
We were then ushered through a fire exit and taken through to some random lifts that serve other parts of the building. After taking 3 lifts to get to the viewing platform, we were again left through a fire exit into the viewing gallery.
We had to fight against the flow of people as we were dropped right next to the exit, so of you were unwitting, you could have missed the open deck and upper deck areas and end up in the queue to get down.
Again the views are amazing and I would do it again, however I was disappointed that we were ushered through staff only areas, as there was info and videos in the lifts as we found out on the way down.
Definitely worth doing for the views, just be prepared to queue, and deal with rude people pushing passed you for their photo opportunities!

We booked an evening time around 17:00 so that we could catch the sunset from the tallest building in the world. Although we didn't book the 148th level ticket; the view from 124th & 125th floors was surreal.
I had heard from family and friends that the Q for the Burj Khalifa is very long, tiring and time consuming. But when we went there there wasn't anyone around for the Q. It was just my wife & I in the fastest lift which climbed 124 floors in 60 seconds! the viewing decks were sparsely occupied and we never has any trouble.
We got to see a beautiful sunset from the 125th level and we stayed back a little for the 18:30 fountain show. By then it was dark and we could see the city's twinkling lights and traffic zooming around.
A lot of people have also told me to see the fountain from the top. But according to me the view from the top doesn't do justice to the beautiful fountain. The city view with lights is no match though.
It took us 10 minutes of waiting time for the lifts and we were on our way out.
The less time in Qs would be obviously due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but rest assured the place was very clean and sanitized! Better to go during these few days when the place isn't crowded! ;)

hi, can anyone tell me what is the accerelation of the elevators during the start until they reach a constant speed and at the top of Burj Khalifa when they brake. I need it for a problem in physics. Pelase answer me...

I get a mix answers about going to 154 floor v. 124 floor. Some people are telling me there is no much to see from both floors, other are telling that it is much better experience on the 154 floor v. 124 floor etc. Can someone who viewed from both floors can elaborate on that?

Hiya, Planning on going to the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa but I am confused as to the best web site to use for tickets. Looking at Get Your Guide who seem to do a skip the line option are they any good or is it best to buy direct from Burj Khalifa website?
Thanks in advance
Written 22 February 2020
Dear Rob,
We booked the “sky vip package” that you mention trough Get your guide and it was really perfect. Sure, it cost a little bit more but for once in a lifetime experience I would go for this every day.

I am visiting Dubai in December with my family and want to go up the Burj Khalifa on the 27th Friday.
What ticket should I purchase to avoid lineups?
I do not mind purchasing the VIP ticket (152/153/154th floor) if it means no lineups.
How early should I arrive to the entrance for the 5PM Bubbly Experience (sunset views)?
What entrance do I go to? Armani Hotel Entrance or Main Entrance?
If I book directly from Burj Khalifa website, do I have to pick up my tickets from elsewhere before showing up to the entrance or are my tickets emailed to me?
Written 26 November 2019
Hi I was there the first week of November this year. I purchased online in advance sing Tripadvior. I got a skip line VIP that took us to 3 floors. I think it was 125, 148 and 153. I went through the Dubai Mall to the main enterance. Once they saw my ticket, displayed on my cell they let me skip to the counter and placed me in a lounge area. There with others, we awaited 10 minutes for our escort. Once we left there, we passed hundreds of people waiting in lines. I heard some had been standing in 1-2 hour long lines. I did my time for evening as I heard it is best to avoid peak hours. So either very early or very late. I was scheduled for 8pm. It was nice and they offered us tea, dates and bisquicks.

I’m booked for the sunrise package, which entrance should I tell my taxi driver to drop me off, that is the closest and most convenient to At The Top entrance? I know that generally the mall entrances will not open till 10AM.

Hi How exciting, the entrance lift to the Burj is in the food hall of the mall on the L G floor.
Whatever entrance you go in follow the signs

Has anyone done the "Tea in the Clouds" package? not the one in at.mosphere but the one in the 152-154 level? How was it? Is it worth the price?
Written 14 September 2019
An amazing experience. With this trip you get to have afternoon tea on the 154th floor. The staff were really attentive and the afternoon tea was delicious and the staff were happy to bring you as much food and drink as you could manage. One of the great benefits was to have vip entry and vip exit whenever you were ready. When you see the queues that you get to walk past you realise how valuable that is in itself. The views were amazing from 154 but you were also able to spend as long as you wanted on 124&125 (although that was a lot busier and obviously less exclusive). All in all a great way to ‘do’ Burj Khalifa.
