The climb itself isn't too bad and the views are spectacular. There are a few different ways to climb. Entrance fee was €8 which surprised me as a month ago it was only 2. Anyway I paid and off I went. Take water with you,...More
A must do when in Kotor. Read reviews about the 8 Euro not actually going to the fortress maintenance so we decided to do as @AndeeZee1 instructed....

Worth every step. If you are athletic, you can easily make your way in less than 30 minutes. Power you way up the hill and take photos on your way down. Sunset is an incredible time to make your way to the top. The light...More
Hike. One foot, then another. Push. Ignore the shrieks of last night's rakia. Climb. Not much farther now.
I awoke at 6:30am, hailed a cab from my hotel and made it to Kotor Old Town by 7:15. I meandered through the empty courtyards and alleys...More
The view to the old city is great. It was a long way and the stone road can be slippery. We walked up to the Church of Our Lady of Remedy and the view is fantastic. However, I feel that the 8 euro ticket is...More

Beware of the seemingly never-ending climb up over 1300 steps. There is a turnstile where a man collects the 8 euro entrance fee to the fortress. The church is about a quarter of the way up. The views are spectacular so it is definitely worth...More

Robert from the Netherlands was a lot faster than us. We hiked up maybe 2/3 of the way, stopping for a lot of photos and to spend time with the cats, and that took us a good 30-40 minutes. We were on a time crunch so we ended there, but 30 minutes from bottom to top is very optimistic. We're in our mid 50's and in decent shape, but it is a tough high not only due to the incline (which is very steep), but also the slipperiness of the rocks. Worth your time though.
