I loved this town! It looks like a town from the fairy tale, it is old, and historical. Very nice people, great food, beautiful weather, the old town spirit - this all made such a great mood for the start of my vacation in Croatia...More

Thoughtfully restored. Would recommend a guided walking tour to learn. Downside, for me, is the amount of tourists, but pleased to have revisited after a gap of 40years.

The old town is the heard of Dubrovnik and a visit of the town is not possible without having been within the town walls. The walls itself are accessible only for an expensive price (or for free after 6 pm) but worth it. The round...More

This was my second visit to this extraordinary walled city and I still found it not only stunning; but also found new places to visit and being here during the Christmas season just made it more spectacular.

First off, if you have a choice, visit in winter. The Cruise ships that bring most of Dubrovnik's tourists stop coming in late autumn and suddenly, this small walled city is no longer hosting 10,000 people a day. The streets feel empty, you have a...More

Enter the old city of Dubrovnik on its main street (Stradun) through the Pile Gate. Go down the ramp on the east (not the steps on the west) to locate the map with black triangles marking all the buildings in the city that were bombed...More

If you’re heading to Dubrovnik, you more than likely plan to spend a considerable amount of time at the Old Town. You can spend hours just walking round aimlessly looks at the glorious architecture dipping in and out of cafes for a refreshing drink. There...More

Would recommend walking the walls but start early to avoid the crowds. They open from 8am. Wander round the old town and take a boat trip to Lokrum. Get the first boat out at around 9am and you will virtually have the island... More

its a tricky choice as both have good points, though cheaper to stay just out of the old town. However, Dubrovnik old town is so busy with tourist groups from Cruise Liners, it can be daunting, and best to visit early... More
