Easy and short hike from the main town. We used the marked trail (off of 1a Avenida Nte) to go both up and down, even though there is another path down with signs saying “SALIDA.” This other path looked poorly maintained, so we thankfully decided to go back down the way we came.

During our travels we met another girl who did this hike, but went back down the path marked “SALIDA.” Unfortunately she encountered a man with a machete and was robbed of her belongings including cellphone. She was obviously still very upset and shaken telling us this story, so just wanted to warn others to not take this path down.

Went for breakfast and then walked from the center of town to the cerro. It was a nice walk but hot, so take water. View of the city is amazing! And if the volcano is visible it makes for a great backdrop for photos. Highly recommended to get out and burn some calories while in town. And your reward is a breathtaking view and well-maintained little park/rec area.

Really nice to get an overview of Antigua. Lovely. Nice atmosphere and busy with many locals too. Walk up is easy and you don't need that long. Just a few things. Do it in the day when it is busy. The roads to get there can get isolated. Despite the trail having some security officers, there have been robberies. Don't go alone and stay together. We went on a busy afternoon early in the day which was fine.

The view of Antigua from this hillside park is very nice. Although you can drive to the top, I would recommend hiking up on the trail from town down below.

We decided to walk from downtown instead of taking a Tuk Tuk. Despite some of the negative reviews, I would recommend the walk to anyone who is able to do it.
To get to the beginning of the hike you must walk along a relatively busy street, some areas have a nice sidewalk, others not so much.
When you get to the top of the hill at the cul de sac, the road splits to the right for vehicles and tuk tuks. The foot path is to your left. The ascent is rather abrupt for the first few feet, but levels out and meanders through a tree lined area. I would personally rate this as easy, but for those with any physical challenges, it may be challenging.
We didn't see anything remotely dangerous on the path, but I can see how that could be a concern.

Nice view of Antigua, easy walk from the main plaza or take a tuk tuk! Youre going for the view. There is security up there, and they will tell you when they are leaving (Dusk)

Worth seeing! Beautiful view of Antigua and surrounding area, including the volcanos. Seeing the cross up close is moving - and it's a gorgeous photo location.

Cerro de la Cruz gives awesome views of the city. We went early early in the day; definitely recommended to avoid the heat the sun brings in the afternoon. I also recommend taking a tuk tuk/taxi/Uber up the hill if you aren't in great shape. It is a fairly steep climb. There are several vantage points for pictures, but you aren't likely to spend more than an hour visiting. It is absolutely worth the time for the beautiful views!

This is a fantastic place to get a view of all of Antigua. Definitely recommend venturing up there. We got a Tuk Tuk up there, but then walked back down. The trails are actually really nice and paved. There are steps in the pavement though, so not sure if it'd be good for wheelchair people.
