City Garden is one of the best city parks in Sofia!
Nov 2020
City Garden is one of the best city parks in Sofia. It is not so big, but also it is not so small. It is next to the National theatre Ivan Vazov and Grand hotel Sofia. Also it is next to the Bulgarian national bank (BNB), National art gallery, the Presidency and the Bulgarian Parliament already (from the autumn), because the Parliament move to this new building (it is old architecture style and is very beautiful) and lеft their old building next to the Sofia university.

Christmas Market
Dec 2019
We walked through this park on our way to the Alexander Nevski Cathedral in order to take in the Christmas Market. Unfortunately this part of our walk was a bit of a disaster. The market was absolutely heaving and most of the time we were just carried along with the crowd trying to avoid wearing other people’s fast food and with no chance of properly viewing the stalls. Added to that was some sort of singing contest for children on a large stage. The noise was horrendous, a rendition of Purple Rain made for a sharp exit towards the Ivan Vazov Theatre.

Important park.

City Park was one of the highlights of our weeks holiday in Sofia, a park that offered so much.
Its split into two distinct area's ,one side of the park has the wonderful Ivan Vazov National Theatre, it's a great park to wander around, lots of random statues ,fountains and bars and restaurants, in the other side of the park you have the beautiful Russian Church " Sveti Nikolay Mirlikiiski set in such pretty grounds ,on all sides of the park are grand looking buildings but what made it such a joy for me to visit was the fantastic Sofia Sofia Christmas Market, this German style Christmas Market was great, lots of stands and stalls, bratwurst, glüwein and souvenir items to be had here, very popular, very busy.
I highly recommend you visit this park if you planning a trip to Sofia.

Fabulous green space
Jun 2019 • Couples
It's a delightful sylvan area at the heart of the city. With gorgeous flowerbeds and shady walkways we enjoyed our time here.

In the lovely summer afternoon it was busy with people relaxing and availing of goodies in the cafe.

A great fountain was in play with a dynamic female figure at its centre. We heard entertaining music and moving towards it we stopped and listened to the exuberant jazz band. We generously rewarded them.

A photographic exhibition was to be seen. At the southern end is the City Art Gallery. Another marvellous institution is the nearby exquisite National Theatre.

A good place to stop and recharge.
Jun 2019
Situated near Ivan Vazov Theatre, the park is a great spot to have a rest if sightseeing in the warmer months. There’s lots of shade (thanks to the tree cover), many benches to sit on, a fountain and the view of the ornate theatre building to enjoy. Visiting on a Sunday, there was a band playing Jazz music. Very enjoyable.

I visited this park several times during my 5-day visit of Sofis

There are attractions that can be visited such as the National Theater, small library, fountains, sculptures or statues, etc

On June 1, the park was full of children doing some art works. There was also a puppet show!

Sofia Christmas Market
Dec 2018 • Couples
Visited the City Garden recently, mainly to walk around the German Christmas Market which is located here each December. The market itself was small but very busy with the usual range of food and drinks stalls and Christmas decorations and handicrafts. The park itself is small, but still worth a visit. We saw a very interesting band while we were there during the day, and at night there was traditional Bulgarian dancing taking place.

The place of Sofia Christmas Market (in December)
Nov 2018 • Couples
Nice small park in the center of Sofia, with nice things around it, like the National Theater, Communist Party Headquarters, Archeology museum, Rotonda Sveti George and not far from Serdica area (5 min walk). In December (23rd Nov-20th Dec for 2018) is the place where Sofia Christmas Market is held. The Market is small, just a few stalls, mostly food and mulled wine, but it's nice. Also keep in mind that it's a German type of Market, with sausages and cooked cabbage, not something traditional Bulgarian.
