This place was okay. A bit of a drive to get there and had some character to it. Quite amazing how they managed to erect such large structures by just placing rocks on top of one another.

Another beautiful temples north of Prambanan Temples.
Oct 2019
The temple sites is consider quite big, and it situated north of Prambanan Temples. Very few visitors here, very quiet place. The main temple is quite big and tall, but the surrounding temples are mostly destroyed. The buddha images are empty from the main temple, but the architectural design and the sculptures on the walls are wonderful.

Beautiful
Dec 2019
Visited this as part of my visit to Prambanan temple and wow is it beautiful. It of course does not compare to Prambanan but you have to see it in tandem.

Remarkably, Hindu and Buddhist architects of the past in the plains of Yogyakarta
Oct 2018
Sewu Temple, a Buddhist heritage is located several hundred meters in the Prambanan Temple complex, which belongs to Hinduism. Historical evidence that residents despite different religions live side by side. Tourists from various countries, West, North, South, and East filled the city of Yogyakarta to witness the historic building. You, your family, and friends have already bought tickets?

Pretty Good

Within the temple compound at Prambanan sits Sewu Temple. The further away of 3 smaller temples - this is the best of 3.

A small tourist train in will take you down to the site. We'll worth the visit and it's also free.

Take 30 minutes for a look. Its quite impressive.

Another Buddhist Temple
Jul 2019 • Family
Even not famous as Borobudur, but still worth to see....
Located in the same complex with Prambanan.
We join a train to go around this temple.
The train will stop for few minutes in front of this temple... Snap some pictures and exchange your tickets with 1 mineral water

Sewu Temple
Feb 2019
If you tire of the hordes of schoolkids around the main Prambanan complex asking to interview you in English, beat a hasty retreat to Sewu Temple. It's just a 10-minute walk away, and you can enjoy a much more relaxing visit to a lesser-known and more interesting ruin.

An awesome historic sites
Jul 2019 • Family
Inside the area of Prambanan temple.Far from the main temple(Prambanan). If you want to have a tour to this place,i suggest you should hire a golf car for a 45 minutes tour around the Prambanan area. The golf car tour costs 200.000.00 rupiah.Because the golf car fits 7 people. You can join in with other family.During this tour you'll pass by Candi Sewu,Candi Bubrah,Candi Lumbung and the back of Candi Prambanan.
These temples are very empty and people rarely visits this because it's a bit far from the main road.
Sewu Temple is a great place but it's still in the process of restoration.
Sewu means a thousand.
