Kawasan kota tua Jakarta berdekatan dengan kawasan wisata lain, seperti Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa (Sunda Kelapa Harbour), China Town (Glodok), Stasiun Kota (Beos). Kawasan kota tua Jakarta mudah dan murah dicapai dengan transportasi busway dan atau commuter line.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 April 2023

Also the museum in the centre is a nice place. Have the coffee and what-nots at Cafe Batavia. Dont miss this location for a short trip when in town.Visited March 2023Written 24 April 2023
- Olivier R1 contributionDaniel scamIf you bump into a guy called daniel here, I think it’s a scam. He told us he had family in the Netherlands and I read a review on here that he had family in the USA. Either way, he gave us a great tour but we gave him €30 for the “children”. I think it’s just a scammer so do his tour but don’t give him moneyVisited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 May 2023

The area was proclaimed a heritage site in 1972 by the Governor of Jakarta. Our guide mentioned that many buildings were allowed to fall into disrepair or were demolished despite the heritage listing. A revitalisation of the area commenced in 2005 and 16 buildings were restored by 2014. We enjoyed our stroll and visits to the museum.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 December 2023

We were approached by a man outside of the Wayang Museum who claimed to run the restoration of the old town of Jakarta, calling himself Mr Daniel. He gave us a very in depth tour around the old town, explaining the old tram network, pedestrianisation around the canals and development of the draw bridge. He also showed us the slums were he apparently teaches the kids in the middle of the train line, and he is addressed by the young as Mr Teacher.
We were having a very interesting tour which we genuinely believed in, until the end. He asked us for money to pay for books and pens for his children. We said we had no money and he even took us to an ATM, and we gave him £10. This left a slightly distasteful note to a real eye opening tour, which made us question whether he really did work for the restoration company.
If you have had this tour and found this review, I would be interested to see if he shared similar facts. He claimed we were his 28th group he has toured over the 11 years, only does tours on Mondays, has 4 siblings, one boy at home, and 2 daughters and one son who lives away, and he has travelled Europe including the UK and Holland doing lectures.
My heart says he is genuine, but my brain says otherwise. If this is a scam, he must be a really horrible person which a very elaborate story.

Kota Tua Jakarta is the area of first settlement in Jakarta. It starts from Sunda Kelapa harbor to Pecinan (China Town). Thus, this area is rich with history.

If spite of the ongoing renovations, the area has no charm whwsoever and remains extremely dirty and difficult to access.
There are a very limited choice of bars/restaurants and the area museums can happily be..ignored

If you are in Jakarta this is one of the nicest areas to check out. It's quite interesting and there is plenty happening. A good photo area and nice old buildings and a big square.

Hello. I am not sure how far is that. I remember I was in another hotel and had to take a cab to reach that area. But it is a highly recorded area to visit
Apakah museum di kota tua tetap buka saat hari kemerdekaan Indonesia? Karena kan termasuk hari libur nasional

Iya, malahan dipadati banyak pengunjung karena beberapa hal.
1. Merepakan hari libur
2. Banyak aktraksi memeriahkan HUT RI
3. Salah satu objek wisata sejarah yg menceritakan zaman kolonial belanda cukup lenkap
