Top ways to experience Ladies Market
The area
Neighbourhood: Mong Kok
It’s one of the highest density districts in the world, so come to Mong Kok prepared for action. Home to every market, restaurant and shopping arcade imaginable, Mong Kok is the one-stop shop to satisfy all your shopping needs. Dust off your finest negotiation skills and dive into the bartering frenzy. Similar retailers will conveniently congregate in the same area forming easy to remember references such as “flower street” and “sneakers street.” Here you will also find various local delicacies being served at street snack shops or hole-in-the-wall restaurants. One reliable rule of thumb: the smaller the place, the better the food.

I can only add to what others have said about Ladies Market. It's a fantastic place for gifts, toys, trinkets, bags, wallets and last minute deals before going home. You just have to know how to haggle:
Step 1: Ask the price (answer will always be high)
Step2: Say you'll take a look down the path (price starts going down)
Step 3:Take another step away ( price goes down some more)
*Before haggling, always have cash. None of the dealers use card readers.
* Don't try using the "I need to go to the ATM" excuse to disengage. Some of the most determined shop hands will lead you to one and wait for you to withdraw cash to pay.
*Hand bags are a staple and can be had for a bargain, but know that they are not very durable. My favorite are cartoon and movie character luggage tags that I give out to my soccer team players when I get back from my latest trip. They love putting them on their gear bags. The best deal I got was HK tote bags for all my friends for US $10.00
* Shop from the center of the market and work your way out. The most expensive dealers are at the ends of the market and people tend to stop and buy at the first place they see.
Don't be shy about haggling. It's expected and you'll be happy with your purchases for it.

This is the quietest I have ever seen the Ladies Market. It’s a shame to see it so subdued although it makes it a much easier place to visit. In normal times, it is shoulder to shoulder and you need a lot of stamina to make it to through the jostling crowd. We went mid-week and we weren’t jostled or bumped once.
Whilst there is not the full complement of stalls, there is still enough to make it worth a visit. You can still expect all the normal street market stock – souvenirs, handbags, wallets, backpacks, shoes, caps, toys, T-shirts, clothes, scarves and belts. The current novelty items that seem to be popular at the moment are karaoke machines and microphones. They were a bit of fun and we were tempted by shiatsu massage ball pillows (they were about a half to a third of the cost of very similar ones in mainstream shops).
GETTING THERE - the MTR is by far the easiest way to get there. Exit via D3 at Mong Kok station. There are multiple exits so if you get confused, just re-check the signs on the station walls. The market is located on Tung Choi St. Once you have come up the D3 stairs to road level, turn 180 degrees, walk to the corner and turn right into Argyle St. The next corner on the right is the start of Ladies Market.

Better markets in other countries. Most vendors carry cheap items that they increase price to reflect luxury items being sold.
Some other vendors carry replica items so beware.
If you want good deal you'll need to bargain with the shop staff
Can still get pretty busy so try to go off peak hours.
Located in the heart of Mong Kok a couple of minutes from the MTR

This is a typical street market like you can find in any touristic area around the world. There is not only Ladies market, but several other street markets adjacent, but they are all the same: it is the place to be to buy souvenirs, but make sure to bargain for real because some charge the 10-fold of what you end up paying in the end. If they do not follow your bargaining, don't worry, there will be another shop that will.

One of the popular destinations vacationers would always visit! Great place to check out the local vibe but as it's more directed towards tourist, be alert! Although there are a great variety of products available, quite a number of stores have repeated items.
Tip for tourists: ALWAYS haggle & keep in mind that the starting price is always much higher than it's actual worth.

It is easy to go by MTR. We stayed at Hong Kong side and just take 20mins to there. For travel trip, you have to bargain with the sellers because they always give you a high rate for first deal.

We loved this market! Not so much for the items that were being sold, but the experience of negotiation and being told we were “number one people” and “very, very lucky” by the vendors. The sights, the sounds and the smells were wonderful. So glad we left the airport and checked out this area.

Oh my.
The guide books and online reviews make this seem like a shopping haven. Yeah, no.
Tourist trinkets and junk that causes tourists to make impulse buys at exorbitant prices. Sure some wiggle room on price but not a lot, and you are still left with tourist crap.
Pressed belly to belly it is not a great experience. Frankly it is just the shops along the street, for the most part, that come the dark of evening, roll out their wares onto the street under plastic and corrugated steel panels to protect you from the rain.
Take a step behind onto the actual original sidewalks of the streets and enjoy the ladies of the evening plying their trade trying to entice mostly male tourists. Great I suppose if you want to take home a "special souvenir" that you can then show off to you doctor.
Serious hard pass on the ladies market.

It is a nice place to go and browse for toursity souvenirs. Much bigger and better than Temple Street Night Market. After
browsing you can walk up to the goldfish and flower markets.

I am sorry to say that I have not payed attention to that. Hong Kong though is much about the real brands and I have not really seen the “similar” ones (but I repeat : I wasn’t looking for that so I did not really pay attention). It actually isn’t all that big and it’s mainly souvenirs
How doesn’t one complain about a specific stall in ladies market?

What tips of bags are you interested in? I have a vendor who ships to the US but she is in Beijing. I you send her a pic of what you want she will tell you whether she has it (or can get it), then she will ship it to you. Very trustworthy and reliable. We've been buying from her for years!
