About
Ngong Ping Cable Car - the gateway to start your Lantau adventure in Hong Kong! Ngong Ping Cable Car connects downtown Tung Chung and Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. Adopting a safe and reliable bi-cable ropeway, the cable car is first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong. The journey begins from Tung Chung, crossing Tung Chung Bay to reach the angle station on Airport Island and turning 60 degrees towards North Lantau. You will be greeted with the vistas of the distant and vast South China Sea and the rolling greens of North Lantau Country Park. At the comfort of the cabin, enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Hong Kong International Airport, verdant, mountainous terrain of Lantau Island, the Big Buddha and the 360-degree view of Ngong Ping Plateau.

Ngong Ping 360 was the highlight of our Hong Kong trip. The cable car ride was an adventure, and the view of the Buddha statues was simply stunning. Ngong Ping Village was also a great place to explore and learn about the local culture. Highly recommended for families!*

Amazing experience to say the least. Highly recommend going when it opens at 9am as that is what my wife and I did. We paid for the standard cable car which was half the price of the crystal cable car, and this was bought on Klook (highly recommend buying on Klook.) We got our own cabin which was very peaceful as we could move around in the cable car and see the different views. The views are stunning and breathtaking once you see the view of the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha). When we took the cable car back, the cable cars coming towards the Buddha were 100% full and when we got off, the line was definetly over an hour wait. This is why I recommend going early to avoid crowds so you can enjoy the experience to its fullest.

Very smooth operation from purchasing the tickets online, boarding and visiting the Big Buddha! It only got foggy near the top but that led to a sense of amazement when we arrived! Very easy to get to by MTR.

Visiting Ngong Ping 360 was a highlight of our trip to Hong Kong. We went there yesterday and the cable car ride was thrilling. We were all in awe of the spectacular scenery. The Buddha statues and the Ngong Ping Village were also stunning and lucky that the sky was incredibly beautiful. Highly recommend!

My sister recommended me to visit Ngong Ping 360 in our trip and I have to say it is a must-visit attraction in Hong Kong. The kids love it very much and were taking pictures of the buddha with their phones. After the cable car ride we went to the Ngong Ping Village and it was a wonderful experience to learn about the local cultures. Will definitely go again with the kids and my parents!

We have been waiting for over 2 hours because the cable cars were stopped due to poor weather. That may explain the first hour but it has been sunny for around an hour. They are now promising buses back down. 40 min trip down and they can’t say when buses will arrive or how many there will be. For a cable car ride that cos HK$350 per person I expect a better planning when they stop.

Highlight was the cable car ride and climbing up the stairs to the statue. The climb up can be done in stages, dont worry. If you feel tired, rest. Nobody is judging you.

Hi Ella, you need half a day (4 hours at least ) I would say . We spent about 6 hours including the cable car ride was enough to see everything and grab some snacks.

Hong Kong is a huge city and it is unlikely that you will run into protesters especially if you visit during the week as most protests are on the weekends. If you are out on Lantau island where the cable car and airport is, then you have nothing to worry about.
Hi, I hope everyone will take a moment to answer my question here, I just booked my ngong ping ticket via klook one way, but I plan to ride a bus going up to village and use the ticket going back to Tung Chung via cable car, my question is there a ticketing office in the village where I can redeem my voucher so I dont need to queue from the counter of Tung chung?? And would it be possible to travel early by bus straight going to the village like 7-8am ??

Yes there is a ticket office in the village and you can even buy your tickets there.

On the official online booking site it says the cable car is closed between 6th and 26th March. Is this correct?
Thank you
On rainy days can you see anything?

Is it 25 minutes a round trip or just one way and how long would you say it would take to go up walk about a bit and come back ? its just we have a plane to catch, thank you

As in the previous answers....25 minutes is only 1 way. You'll need at least 2 hrs to 3 hrs to do this trip - to get in the queue to buy the tickets, get in the queue to get on the gondola, to walk thru the village, walk up the steps to see the big Budda (there's LOTS), to see the small village at the base then go back down. We did minimal touring through the village and it took us probably around 2 hrs total. BUT it's worth it!!

Trying to book online for this week but no availability until 27th March with any provider. Does anyone know if it's closed? If not what's the best time to go and queue for the tickets?

Yes it's closed until from 6-26 March 2019.
"NGONG PING 360 CABLE CAR TEMPORARY CLOSURE 6th to 26th March 2019 - The Ngong Ping 360 cable car operating between Tung Chung and Ngong Ping is to close for scheduled maintenance from 6th to 26th March 2019 (21 days). Normal service will resume on 27th March. During the closure period Ngong Ping Village, the "Big Buddha", Po Lin Monastery, Wisdom Path and other attractions at Ngong Ping remain open as usual. Visitors can take alternative transport between Tung Chung and Ngong Ping, either New Lantao Bus Company service 23, which takes about 50 minutes and departs from Tung Chung Temporary Bus Terminus, adjacent to the cable car terminal on Tat Tung Road (additional services operate to meet demand) or, subject to availability, Lantau (blue) taxi, fare approx HK$180, journey time about 35 mins."
Hope this helps.
