The area
Neighbourhood: Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.

French chic styled cocktail bar, hidden behind thick curtains - those that know, know! Cool music, sophisticated people and out of this world cocktails - you simply need to try the chocolate glass dipped strawberry daiquiris…. Well worth tracking down and visiting when in town

Feather Boa is still going strong. Old news of course for HK locals, so there are not so many reviews on here because it’s such an institution. So this review is just an update to encourage those who have not been to pop on their Soho Central bar visit list. Yea it’s small and quirky, but I reckon it still holds up well against all the other cool new kids in this area. There isn’t another bar quite like it for sure. And their drink list follows the golden rule of do a few things well rather than lots of things to an average standard. I’m still a sucker for the chocolate rimmed strawberry frozen daiquiri. Visited on a Wednesday midweek. Busy but not too busy at 8.30pm.

Yes we get it: the drinks are divine and the atmosphere one of a kind. The place mainly lives from tourists and airline crews from all over the world. This makes it almost a ‘must try’ when you are travelling through HK; and if you would like to meet an international crowd while sipping their signature drink ‘chocolate daiquiri’, this is the place for you. Be prepared to queue up and to wait before the staff let you in. And, don’t be surprised if you are (literally) shouted at and ‘disciplined’ by the two sisters who run the place coming up for over a decade if you don’t follow their rules of the house. As a local and a regular for many years, I have unfortunately been subject to their rude and at times aggressive approach towards clients. This was very unfortunate as it not only impacts their reputation, it also motivates other bars close-by to fill that service gap successfully while offering a similar setting and drinks. Conclusion: go there if you don’t care about temperamental service and just enjoy the place. Avoid it if you feel that a quality client focused attitude should be part of a long standing establishment as it is not guaranteed here.

Feather Boa is home to the rudest behaviour I have ever witnessed in the hospitality industry. We decided to take our board members here for a drink after dinner and we were physically shoved out of the door after trying to enter after. After reading all the reviews about racist and rude behaviour at this bar and experiencing it first hand, I will never take my business here.

Extremely rude, physically rude , we will not be frequenting these premises again. Won't go into details but suffice to say the owner is a bit happy with her hands.

Very very disappointed. Firstly I never write a review but was left feeling so disgruntled I had to comment. The staff were incredibly rude from the minute we arrived. I had been here before and remembered it can be a little over the top with having to speak quietly/no flash photography etc but thought it would be nice to have a post dinner cocktail for a friends birthday- boy was I wrong.
We were left like lemons stood at the bar being ignored and after placing an order (with a quiet indoor voice) we were told 30minutes later after inquiring about the lack of drinks that our drinks were in fact not being made. The reasoning behind this still baffles me as they claimed we were rude. Shock is the only word I could use and rather than give us any more details on what they had found so offensive about the phrase '4 strawberry daiquiris please' we left.
I understand bar tending can be difficult especially as most of your clientele proceed to get drunk but we were simply there wanting one drink and be on our way.
I shall never return to this overpriced pretentious establishment and advise for those wanting a good evening to go elsewhere.

I LOVE the Feather Boa. Well I did 12 years ago when I last went there. Went back last night to revisit my past. The decor hasn't changed a bit thank goodness. Very funky European chic lounge theme which I believe is the secret to its success and longevity. In a world of mediocrity it's exceptional. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the staff. You'd have to go out of your way to find staff who are more rude than these ladies. We had to wait 10mins to get in ( which is fine). We were standing on the curb waiting when the door lady wanted to open the door she literally pushed us out of the way!!! The same psychotic lady angrily paces the bar asking everyone to be quiet. You can't even laugh out loud without being told to be quiet!!! Bizarre!! In addition to that the sour faced lady behind the bar in pig tails was dressed
like some kind of school girl and acted like a spoiled brat. Like we were 'privileged ' to get her service. I do love this bar for the decor, the vibe and the chocolate martinis, but these ladies need to be VERY careful they don't destroy this very good thing they have!! There's plenty of competition out there!! If the wait is too long, try the bar Bocadito next door which is owned by their ex business partner!! We did. He serves the same cocktails and the service was exceptional!!!

To allow entrance based on skin colour is one thing, but to allow ANY tom, dick and Harry simply because they are white is a recipe for disaster. Increasingly filled with those 'recruiter' pint-guzzling chav types doesn't do much for its image. Not what it used to be.

There's always a line of expats thinking they are something special as they are waiting to get into this place. It's a tiny little bar, either dead quiet or so busy it's uncomfortable. Good cocktails, odd Service, cross the road and go to the Medusa bar instead, a hidden gem that had the same concept but is much better!

A friend of mine recommended this place. From the outside, it looks like a shop which has closed down (with drapes covering the doors and windows). He knocked on the door and a lady opened it slightly, requesting two different business cards (I think any business cards will do as long as they are different). We were then let in and took a table by the door. Very well decorated by the owner (who is usually behind the bar) and great ambiance. Note that you have to order at least one drink per head (so not good for non-drinkers, but not a problem for us) and cocktails are around HKD 95 each. We had the chocolate strawberry daiquiri, martinis (watermelon, lychee and espresso) and a few spirit mixers. Chocolate strawberry daiquiri was great (nice touch to have the glasses coated in chocolate) as was the espresso martini. Otherwise, the other martinis (watermelon and lychee) were lacking in flavour and a bit disappointing.
My biggest issue was the door lady - the moment our voice raised above a murmur (bearing in mind the bar was packed and noisy anyway) she would come over and actually hit us on the back/shoulder and tell us to be quiet. What sort of bar, serving alcohol, isn't quite noisy?! Anyway, for me, she kind of ruined the this part of the night for me. Get rid of her and it would be a "Very good" review from me. Still worth a visit (who knows? maybe she'll get fired!)
