Hong Kong is not short of is tall buildings but you can’t miss the two soaring IFC towers on the harbour-front. These are the towers that Batman leapt between in The Dark Knight. Standing at the top of 2IFC, with Hong Kong city spread out below him, he plunges towards 1IFC to break in and track down the loot that the Joker had stolen from the Gotham City Bank.
IFC is one of the most distinctive landmarks on the HK skyline. Mostly it houses the city’s banking and finance industry. A large-scale commercial complex, it includes the 1IFC and 2IFC towers, the Four Seasons Hotel and the luxurious IFC shopping mall.
Tower 2 is the taller of the two towers and was built in 2003, five years after 1IFC. It’s still only the second tallest in HK although interestingly, its 88 floors don’t include some numbers. Numbers with “4” in them are considered unlucky because the word “4” sounds awfully similar to the word, death in Cantonese.
A viewing deck on 55th floor offers a stunning outlook. Officially, this is the HK Monetary Authority Information Office but it’s regularly open to the public and once you’ve registered at the front desk, it’s free to enter. It’s a stunning view. Although it was shut for a while, I believe it’s now open again.
The shopping mall is conveniently located near the Star Ferry and sits right above the Hong Kong Airport Express Station and MTR. Apart from restaurants and high-end shopping, there are also some very good views over the city and the harbour from the Apple shop, the Level 3 restaurants and the Shake Shack outdoor area on level 4.

The guard in the lobby told us the observation deck was closed. This was the middle of the afternoon on a Thursday. They either closed it permanently, or the guard did not want to deal with us.

I went up to see, if it was worth it to take the kids.
Oh yes. Not open air, but really is a great view AND an interactive exhibition about the Hong Kong Dollar.

The way up is not obvious to find, does not seem to be signposted in the IFC, but worth the effort.
Ground floor of the 2 IFC office building, where very nice personel signs you in (picture ID) and leads you to the elevators.

On the 55th floor (the only stop for these elevators), the exhibition about HongKong’s money is quite informative.

The view is great. Not 360 degrees, but well worth it.
Just check the actual opening hours.

Impressive building and one of the key landmarks in HK which also contains a large shopping mall primarily full of all the top brand names you would expect.

From the outside this is a great building which is right up there with some of the other high buildings in HK. Within the building is the shopping mall and also the MTR station so there is plenty to admire of this building in and around.

The IFC mall is part of the International Finance Center, which is one of the highest buildings in HK. There are shops, brand name boutiques, and restaurants in the mall. The International Finance Center houses the Monetary Bureau and many financial companies. Next to the IFC is the Four Seasons Hotel and the luxurious service apartment building.

Visited on a Saturday. Shopping centre is ok, some restaurants on the upper floors are interesting and reached by lift.

IFC 1 and IFC 2 make for a million of possible pictures from every angle around the impressive skyscrapers ... the mall is also very nice and offers a lot of fashion/watch and jewelry stores plus a big array of mid to upscale restaurants

The International Finance Centre is located above the Hong Kong Metro station. Look for IFC 2. When you approach the front counter you will be asked for your Passport. Once that has been recorded you take the lift to Floor 55. There is a great exhibition area which tells you the story of "Banking in the city of Hong Kong" It is a great display with plenty of information which will keep you reading for some time. Check out the one cent bank note. The multicoloured Hanging Display is worth some photographs.
The building allows you a great view over a fair percentage of the city..
