The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

The Wanchai Computer Centre is located along Hennessy Road in Wanchai, right outside the MTR Station Exit A4. This is a typical low-rent arcade setup with a couple floors filled with short and narrow hallways, lined with small shops and stalls, selling new and used computers, computer parts, accessories and other electronic gadgets.
The floors can get rather busy at times, especially during weekends. Stall opening hours are roughly 10am to 9pm daily. Basically think Mongkok and one of many arcade style computer cluster complexes and that is what you have with the Wanchai Computer Centre.

Bought a Dell monitor yesterday but when I got it home and opened the box saw it had a massive scratch down it. Tried to use it but my eye was constantly distracted by it. Took it back today and the woman basically accused me of making the scratch, of lying and ultimately refused to exchange/help. Admittedly I was fairly annoyed by this but then she started shouting at me. When called over the male manager was decent. DO NOT GO THERE, they do not honour their warranty and worst customer service to accuse me of lying. @yans @wanchaicomputercenter

Be very aware of the first store when you enter the computer center. I've had some good experiences with some of the stores but this one is dodgy! DO NOT go to this shop! They fixed my cracked screen last year, but I've now come to find out they have stolen my battery! And replaced it with a fake. As advised by the apple store.

The mall in itself is hit and miss. My advice to you is to get a recommendation from a friend for a reputable shop. I went to a TERRIBLE repair shop called WG. Firstly, they 'fixed' my macbook but didn't check it when they installed a new hard drive, I was in a rush so couldn't check it myself but when I got home it didn't work so I had to come back to the store. They had to fix it AGAIN.
Secondly, when I got my Macbook, it was evident that they used an old hard drive to replace the one that burned out because now it is very SLOW.
Thirdly at the same time as fixing my Macbook, they also 'fixed' my Sony smartphone. They lost the sim card tray and claimed it was 'already missing' when I gave it to them which was a blatant lie, anyway they ordered a new one but the cover is missing for the tray. When I went to use the Sony phone after getting it 'fixed' guess what?! It doesn't work! I cannot hear anyone on the phone so cannot make phone calls.
AVOID WG AT ALL COSTS! HEED MY WARNING!

Took my cracked screen ipad there to fix and saw the first store saying they are expert in fixing apple product (k-one). The guy said it will take an hour or so. Without too much thought I turned the iPad off and gave to the guy. He asked for passcode and said they need to check if it is working properly. I log out all of the accounts and thought it should be fine. How wrong I was! When I took it back, I’ve noticed the note section of some contacts were updated. I felt stupid for giving them the passcode now. I can only hope that they won’t use my contact list for malicious purposes! Now I have no idea what to do.

Never go to this shop. They are the first shop you see off the escalator in the Wan Chai computer center. Their prices are at least double those of competitors in the center, but more to the point THEY ARE INEPT, DISHONEST and ACHINGLY SLOW. Took them 3 DAYS to change the permissions on a hard drive (I couldn't figure out how to do it and it was an emergency). They sold me a NEW drive for 800 HKD (again, emergency...) then repeatedly I had to return it because THEY WERE UNABLE to complete the job. When I respectfully voiced my concern about the time, expense and lack of results, they became HOSTILE. Safe yourself the trouble and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This particular shop is a scam, as are probably most shops in this mall. I gave my phone to have the cracked screen fixed and they returned it with the volume knobs and microphone not functioning.
After enquiring with them, they advised they don't guarantee their work and refused to fix the phone.

WARNING: Avoid this shop at all cost. It is the first shop facing the escalator on the way up from ground floor. They claim to be "experts" in Mac repairs, iPhones, iPads.
But they are not. They destroyed my laptop and iPhone, claimed I needed to buy new parts, memory to fix them. They "accidentally" deleted all my files, and replaced some parts with old ones. A "technician" repairs your laptop behind the front desk with screws and parts all over the place. Luckily, everything was documented and I paid via AMEX. After 2 months of investigation, AMEX voided the charges. However, I had to buy a new laptop and iPhone because both were not usable after K One replaced parts with wrong ones. SO BEWARE.

Hello Ali A,
Not sure if you have made your trip to Hong Kong or not as this question was posted quite some time ago. If not, here are a few thoughts below.
The Wan Chai Computer Centre isn't a bad place and there is quite a bit you can find here in the form of computer, camera and electronic equipment, accessories, games, etc. It is a good location if you are on Hong Kong Island. However, there are better districts for this type of shopping in Sham Shi Po and Mongkok on the Kowloon side. Locally, Sham Shui Po in particular is considered a tech-nerd shopping paradise.
