Mong joker stadium in Hong Kong is small but it’s nice and the people in the stands give the stadium a great atmosphere. I was there for an AFC cup game and although there were only around 3,000 people the stadium was almost full and it was really loud. I recommend going to a football game here and ticket prices are cheap .

The Mongkok Stadium isn't usually a place that enters the conversation of tourist attractions or places of interest for visitors to Hong Kong.

This is the relatively small venue, that can hold around 6,600 spectators, located near the Flower Market in Mongkok and Prince Edwards. It is where Hong Kong's first division football matches are held. As such, this is venue is much more befitting of local football club supporters.

Of interesting note, the stadium was recently renovated. After 2 years or reconstructions and stadium modifications, Mongkok Stadium was reopened towards the end of 2011 when it began hosting football matches and competitions again.

In additional to regular league play, various cup competitions and international football matches like the Asian Football Confederation Cup have been held at Mongkok Stadium, sponsored and managed by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The venue will continue to serve such purpose for the foreseeable future.

Hint: If you do find yourself at Mongkok Stadium for a match, do try to find some time to visit other areas of this district, which is rich with interesting street markets. For more information on the famed Mongkok Market scene, have a look at the following trip list:

My friend and I were in Hong Kong during the national holidays. We are both huge football fans and we saw information that said Hong Kong were having a friendly with Laos (apparently Laos play football....who knew). It was happening on our last evening so we thought why not

Well I have to say....it was awesome. The stadium is a fair walk but it’s a good worthwhile walk (take in some markets on the way it’s worth it). We got our tickets some merchandise, took our seat in the 7,000 seater which was barely full and watched

We adopted ourselves as Hong Kong fans and we witnessed a 4-0 thrashing of Laos, Hong Kong just played better and as a man from England I think they’d give us a good game. It had action, chances, two penalties and goals.....what more do you need from a game

I’ve been converted and I’d go again

This should have been our first clue, we could not find any ticket information on the website, and when we called them the old fashioned way, we got an opaque "show up and buy before game time at 2:30."

Clue #2, we got tickets number 00004, 00005 and 00006 when we showed up at 1:45 to ensure it won't sold out!

Very nice stadium, real turfs in top conditions, great sight lines, clean modern facilities, canopies, huge stands for the press. Capacity 7,000--announced attendance 984!

We had a great time, completed with drumming, chanting fans, and running commentary by fouled mouth old timers sitting behind us. And our team the Eastern Dragon won, 7 to 1! Cannot ask for more of a good time.

Intimate venue where your shouts can really be heard. Good atmosphere for players and spectators. If only we had good football to watch.
