The area
Neighbourhood: Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.

The WWF Central Visitor Centre is located in the red brick and granite building with the modest neo-classical style entrance on Old Tramway Path just north of the Peak Tram Terminus and can be visited from 9am to 6pm (Mon, Wed - Fri) and 10am to 7pm (Sat & Sun) - closed on Tuesdays.

This Visitor Centre serves several purposes. First and foremost, awareness of WWF objectives and efforts here in Hong Kong and abroad. Second, they can assist with booking tours at one of their field locations in Hong Kong including visits to Island House (Tai Po), glassed-bottom boat trips at the Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park (Sai Kung West Country Park) and birdwatching at the Mai Po Wetlands (New Territories West). You can also make these reservations for these tours directly through the WWF Hong Kong Website.

Lastly, there is a WWF Panda Shop here that has a wider selection of items compared to what you will find at their field offices at Island House, Hoi Ha and Mai Po. You can purchase t-shirts, coffee mugs, bags, paper, pencils, water bottles and other items which make use of recycled and/or reusable material. All proceeds support the WWF operations.

Just up the hill from the exit of The Peak Tram. A small store but with lots of interesting items on the shelves.
Shirts, bags, water bottles, cards, books, maps, China that breaks down in 24 months if broken and put in the ground - how good is that! Worth a look inside.

This nice little gift shop is just steps away from the Peak Tram terminal and Madam Tussauds, and without the huge crowds! It has a fairly good selection of boutique items for sale that's environmentally friendly. The prices are reasonable and they accept credit cards (visa/MC); it's a great place to do some quick shopping in an quiet place while you're on your way to Hong Kong Park or the Peak - and you can shop for a good cause!
