I had elders that had caged birds, so the idea of a place where people took their birds for a walk was always amusing to me. This place isn’t big, but is right next to the flower market so it’s easy to combine. Not really worth visiting on it’s own, but definitely made for some interesting pics and conversations.

This is an interesting place to visit with many colorful birds on display in cages. There are also cute rattan bird cages for sale. It is also conveniently located at the end of Flower Market Road so you can visit both the flower market and the bird market at the same time.

A short walk from the Mong Kok Flower Market. Architecture and layout of the garden nothing to write home about. Now if you are interested in purchasing birds and all manners of supplies, or getting a glimpse of traditional Chinese way of keeping birds complete with their small cages then it is fine. But if you hate seeing birds housed in cramped conditions then stay away (but then, considering the cramped living conditions most folks in Hong Kong find themselves to be in, perhaps one should not complain).

This small park marks Mong Kok's interesting past. Yuen Po Street Bird Garden is the government effort to relocate and re-accommodate the once vibrant bird street in present day Langham Place. It is popular among local bird owners with a lot of colorful parrots on display. A nice and fun place to explore.

...is this mixed use area with shops for buying bird-keeping equipment and also space for people to bring their birds out to perch. Its architecture is quite interesting in and of itself and the socialising between (mostly very old) bird keepers is not something I’ve seen anywhere else. I would NOT recommend it to anyone who may be upset by seeing birds chained up or in small cages and I’m not sure taking photos is the done thing.

To call it a bird garden is really not accurate. It is a market to sell birds, almost all of them are caged in a tiny cages.
Of course the birds are beautiful, but it is not pleasant to see them in these conditions, you should name it, birds market and not garden.

It feels like you've gone back in time. I do feel sorry for the many of the birds. But I like that people (the men...wish there were women too) bring their birds so that their birds can learn other songs from the other birds. Charming!

For those folks who love exotic birds, the Bird Garden should not be missed. For the rest of us, it is fascinating to watch men walking around with their caged feathered friends.

Great little find well worth the visit near Prince Edward MTR. This is very close to the Flower Market so its worth combining the 2 in the same trip. Its like stepping back in time as you wonder through the market where Kowloon residents sit and drink tea while watching over there pet birds. There are dozens of stores selling a huge array of different birds like finches, parrots and budgies. To find it you'll need to either climb the steps or walk up a long ramp to the Yuen Po Street.
