This is part of the Yue Man Square (YM2) complex situated below the Grand Central Estate in Kwun Tong. The bazaar occupies the basement level and serves as a modern day replacement for the old street side hawker bazaar that was once found along Mut Wah and Hip Wo Streets. This has all been part of the Urban Renewal Authority's major project to redevelop the town centre area of Kwun Tong, particularly around the old Yue Man Square.
The new indoor hawker bazaar has space for around 100 vendors who previously had outdoor setups on the streets mentioned above. The environs are clean, hygienic, climate-controlled and with good lighting. Venders and shoppers are much better protected from the weather in this new underground market setup as well. What you will find are small unit space, evenly partitioned and distributed with narrow walking lanes situated in between.
I recently visited for the first time during the middle of the week. It was midday and only around 1/3 of the units were open. Expect quite a few more on weekends. Those that were open were dealing in clothing, bags, toys and other household products. Some units were unoccupied all together and there were no food shops to speak of. You can find plenty of these on the upstairs Yue Man Lane section of YM2.
You can find the Yue Man (YM2) complex including the new Hawker Bazaar around 3-4 minute walk from the Kwun Tong MTR Station. Just walk in the direction of the tall Grand Central residential towers and you'll soon be there.
