The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

I’ve been here to see a few productions since moving to HK, most recently the fantastic ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ (utterly juvenile and unbelievably funny) and the so-so ‘Priscilla: Queen of the Desert’ (impressive at first but subsequently monotonous though I doubt I’m the target audience). The main theatre has great views from everywhere we’ve sat and very good sound quality. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the bar isn’t too expensive by city standards for drinks and snacks.

Wonderful professional level facilities for dance training! So happy to come back every year! Big spacious studios and a large practice stage help AGP grow better every year! The studios can tend to get slippery.

This is not really a tourist attraction but a place where students come here to get their degree in performing arts. For tourists, you might find some interest in the sculptures outside or the occasional student performances. Some of you might also be hoping to catch the next big Hong Kong movie star - you can usually hear the drama students practising loudly at the foyer.

Visited HKAPA ona rare Saturday afternoon off during a recent business trip to see the international touring production of 'Wicked'. Theatre is well appointed, however lacks some concessions or things to do before entering the auditorium and some of the space could be better used (a nice bar would be ideal). The theatre itself is very comfortable with large armchair style seating and good views from all locations. Having to move seat during the intermission I had experience from sitting both half way up and right at the back of the auditorium. No problem with views or sound in either position.

We came here to watch another Musical Wicked this time.
There are local Productions held as well most times.
It's not as big as the Asia expo.
There is a coffee corner for us to grab a cup of coffee and a quick bite too.

Beautiful Theatre, saw the performance of the international touring company of Wicked, looking forward to returning to see West Side Story...as well caught two shows part of the Children's Theatre Festival, but I was impressed with the school while visiting, the students are lucky to have such a space, I hope in the future to catch a student performance while visiting HK again.

Been there several times. Sound of Music, Singing In The Rain snd recently; for "Wicked". Theater facilities and sound effects is quite good. Convenient location that can be easily reached by various forms of public transport. My children go there occasionally for ballet practice at the dance studios.

Visited Lyric Theatre of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts many times, for different musicals, ballets and plays. Last week, I watched a spectacular musical there. I would say, I am confident of the theatre facilities and sound effects there. They are of a professional level. A convenient venue which can be reached from Admiralty MTR station on foot.
