Neighbourhood: Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.

This was the only and is still the most popular option to travel between Hong Kong and Macau. Although timetable has been genuinely curtailed due to COVID, TurboJet offers fast, convenient and comfortable ferry service. Do get the tickets in advance as seats are quite limited.

They service is efficient and departed on time. The boat was in good condition but they have a serious people problem!
Service is awful and unfriendly. For instance, they refused to help me with the internet service! They did not care! Each time you need anything, it seems you bother them!
I don’t know if there are any other company to travel to Macao but if there is another one, it would be worth trying to compare!

TurboJet ferry service between Hong Kong and Macau was suspended for three years (Feb 2020 - Jan 2023) during the pandemic. However, the borders have been reopened and the vast majority of travel restrictions have been lifted, allowing free and open travel between the two sister SAR cities again.
As such, TurboJet has begun making daily sailings again between the HK Macau Ferry Terminal (Sheung Wan, Hong Kong) and the two ferry terminals in Macau, the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal (Macau Peninsula) and the Taipa Ferry Terminal (Cotai).
Sailing frequency has quickly been updated to 7.30am to around 9pm each day. However, service remains infrequent at the moment with 6 sailings a day to/from Taipa and 11 sailings to/from the Peninsula. Journey frequency will surely increase as demand for visits and travel picks up now that tourists are returning to both Hong Kong and Macau. Updated sailing schedules can be viewed on the TurboJet website.
Presently, you can purchase tickets at the ticket counters in HK and Macau or book directly online and make use of mobile e-tickets to access the terminals and board ferries. Given the fairly limited sailings at the moment, it is probably best to go ahead and reserve both legs of your journey between HK and Macau in advance, especially if you have sensitive travel times or commitments.
Have made a couple sailings so far this month, all sailings have departed late by 5-10 minutes and journey times are longer right now. Roughly 80 minutes to Macau and 70 minutes to HK. Ferries have to approach slower in Macau now due to bridge construction works and they are probably still sorting out sailing departure processes still after the 3 year layoff. Ferry journey prices can be found on the TurboJet website route and sailing schedule page.

From 28 December 2019 to 14 January 2020 my wife and I organised an interesting 18 day South East Asian adventure to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary visiting Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Laos and Singapore.
Two nights were spent in Hong Kong and two nights In Macau and we travelled to Macau from Hong Kong on the fast TurboJet Hong Kong –Macau Ferry.
We chose to pre-purchase our ferry tickets online from Brisbane through Direct Ferries Limited before our Asia trip commenced. This was an efficient process.
We took the 11.00 am ferry from the ferry terminal at Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island on 30 December 2019 and reached the Macau Outer Harbour ferry terminal 55 minutes later. The Turbojet catamaran’s exterior is distinctively painted a bright red. The interior resembles the inside of an aircraft. Our reserved seats were on the upper level of the ferry and were reasonably comfortable. They were pink in colour and incorporated a fold up tray table. We were given window seats next to quite good, large viewing windows.
The directional signage at the Hong Kong Terminal at times was found wanting so we relied on asking the staff for assistance. We have to say that some of the staff here were rather indifferent to us. They were only willing; it seemed, to be as helpful as they felt they needed to be. Public relations could be greatly improved here.
Because we were having two nights in Macau we checked in our main luggage. However we had our usual airport hand luggage which we took on board. My wife had a backpack which she was allowed to take with her to her seat. However, I had a conventional correct size carry on luggage case which the staff insisted had to be left in a dedicated but exposed area downstairs, well away from my seat and out of my sight. There appeared to be no staff member closely guarding all these cases raising questions about the possibility of compromising luggage security. I personally found this situation disconcerting. So, my advice to travellers who are planning a trip which includes an overnight stay in Macau and they plan to get to Macau by ferry, is to choose a backpack as their airport carry on luggage .
The actual ferry ride was fast and efficient and the ride was quite smooth throughout. To us it was just a fast sea travel experience with little outstanding scenery on the journey. The service at the Macau Terminal on our arrival was friendlier than our experience at the Hong Kong Terminal.
Taking the ferry with TurboJet is a convenient, efficient way to travel from Hong Kong to Macau. However, we felt there is room for improvements.

Went to Macau for a day trip. Easy purchasing tickets. Bought fixed time tickets but able to catch earlier boat home without any fuss. Might not be as easy during busy periods though.

We checked in from Macau at 8pm and we were waiting in standby lanes for 2 hours. The staff is rude to the bone and barely speak English.
If you need to use this horrible company, buy fixed time and day to have reserved seats and avoid standby process.

We used the Turbojet services roundtrip between Hong Kong and Macau - excellent service and a fun and exciting experience. Both ways the trips were on time and comfortable with very nice service in the terminals and onboard. We used Super Class which provided more comfortable seating (and it was not full so room to spread out) and food service - we were more than satisfied. Premier Grand Class is available on some departures but probably not worth the money for the hour journey.
A jetfoil ride is an essential part of a day trip to Macau from Hong Kong!
Note that complimentary shuttle buses are available to all passengers to/from the Macau ferry terminal to all major hotel-casinos.

I took Economy Service from HK to Macau then Premier Grand service back from Macau to HK. Easy way to get between both cities.
Essentially the same service, but cost much more in PG.
An advertised Premier Grand waiting lounge with complimentary drinks and snacks didn't exist, at the least the staff at the Turbojet sales/ticket counter and check in had no idea what I was talking about. Even after I showed them the Turbojet website, but they couldn't provide an answer. Shuffled into Economy waiting area after receiving seat assignment in PG cabin. BTW, PG cabin was empty, but still assigned seat in the back-middle row...of an entirely empty cabin.
Food offered was so-so, could order the same in Economy much cheaper.
Service slow and nothing to write home about. By the time the food came to my seat, order was wrong, but at that point I waited too long to send it back, went with the flow. Bowl of rice and shrimp, my feeling was that is all they had to offer. Drinks were okay.
Overall nothing special except the higher price.
Next time I'll go Economy.

TurboJet offers fast and frequent ferries to and from Macau. The first time we planned to go, we forgot our passports. We returned the next day though. My mum was really sick on the journey to Macau, she doesn't normally get motion sick but the ride was a little bumpy. If you get motion sickness, make sure to take some tablets beforehand. The way back she was fine though! Seats on the way there were more comfortable than on the way back.

Our flight out of Hong Kong to Sydney is a 10.35pm
The jet times are 11.30am or 7.45pm.
Will the 7.45pm time give enough time at the airport if we arrive at 9pm?

Can I take turbojet from Macau to HKIA to reach Regal Airport Hotel where I plan to stay overnight before my flight the next morning or is Skypier only for those passengers transferring to connecting flights?

Hi. When we were there in May, there were people at the desk changing dates or times. It did not seem to be an issue. I suspect with the current weather situation there, (sept 2018) they will be most accommodating. Safe travels.
Any form i need to fill in prior to departure and arrival to macau from HK for immigration check?

We are spending time in Hong Kong and then plan to go to Macau for 2 nights. Does your luggage fit on the ferries or turbojet? We will have a large suitcase each. Thank you.
