Neighbourhood: Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.

It has been many years since l last visited Hong Kong. Even more years going to Macau from HK.
I used to go to Macau from HK by fast ferry jet. Was not sure if this is still a good option with the opening of the land bridges.
I have to compliment Cotai Jet for the many improvements since l travel that route many years ago. The processes were very smooth. The ride took close to one hour. It was a seamless journey. This has to be the best way to get to Cotai from Hong Kong.

Cotai Water Jet offers fast and reliable ferry service between Sheung Wan and Taipa. While seats are in tight supply amid post-covid boom, the trip itself is pretty pleasant and hazzle-free. Seats are more comfortable than Turbojet and staff way friendlier. Highly recommend.

We had a great experience with Cotai Water Jet. We brought first class tickets and had a pleasant trip from Macau to Hong Kong. The boat ride was generally smooth and quiet. Enjoyed the experience and would do the waterjet again rather than the bus as there were not that many people and the boarding and disembarking process was smooth.

Easy to reach Shun Tank centre and collect the boarding passes from the counter. Checking-in has been quick, where they assign you the seats. Takes exactly one hour to reach Macau. It was kind of rough weather that day, and had experienced some disturbances and seasickness feelings that day though.Otherwise, it was smooth and awesome.

The ferry terminal large and modern. When I was there on a Sunday is largely empty and getting to my ferry was a breeze.

We planned a quick day trip to Macau from Hong Kong & found the Cotai Water Jet to be very convenient.

Since we were tourists, unfamiliar with the different ferry options, we inquired with our hotel concierge. If you are visiting the major casinos in Macau (ie, Venetian, Parisian, Four Seasons, Conrad, Studio City & the Galaxy Complex) this ferry drops you off the closest to these casinos & hotels, known as the Cotai Strip. If you are traveling to the historic & less touristy parts of Macau, there might be better drop off locations.

We emailed our hotel concierge & they were able to purchase tickets for us. We highly recommend this option since it was very convenient. We booked the First Class cabin which was a cheap upgrade from the Cotai Class Cabin. First class gets you at the top floor of the ferry, and priority embarkation & priority disembarkation. Since first class cabin gets to leave the boat first, we breezed through customs without waiting in line.

In the first class cabin, we got two seats by the window (pictured below). The seats were spacious and comfortable and similar to a first-class domestic flight seat. Before leaving the terminal, we got offered a welcome drink from a menu (beer, bottled water, tea, coffee or juice) and a small pack of nuts. Service was okay, nothing memorable. There is also free wifi onboard which makes the journey much more pleasant.

The sea can become very rough and many passengers got seasick. If you get motion sick, take medication before boarding.

When leaving Macau and returning to Hong Kong, the Cotai Water Jet terminal had a dedicated First Class waiting area (where the Hong Kong Terminal did not). You want to arrive 30-45 minutes before your ferry leaves. We thought security would be similar to airport security & arrived 1.5 hours early & were waiting around for quite a while.
