A very interesting day discovering Shenzen with Stéphanie who is a valuable guide for navigating the megalopolis. We were a group of 7 friends and got to see a lot in just 1 day from Hong Kong.
Having left Hong Kong by West Kowloon Railway station by the new fast train from HK, we arrive in Futian District in only 14 minutes and were able to climb to the top of the Ping An Tower in the Free Sky observatory from where we can contemplate the city from a height of 600 meters (. The view was not clear, but taking the ultra-fast elevator and finding yourself at the top of Shenzen was still worth it. the photos with the helicopter simulation and the light columns were very cool
Then we explored the historic district of Nantou (by going there by electric taxi) with a stroll in the pedestrian old town and its pretty old houses. We had the chance to have lunch on a terrace surrounded by greenery.
The next step, we discovered the HuaqiangBei district with electronic component shops and everyday gadgets at unbeatable prices. In the next district, Dongmen / Laojie, 'the old town' - Stéphanie showed us a noisy, lively and fascinating food market with local specialties (skewers of scorpions, snakes and various insects) where they cook in front of us.
After a few metro stations, we reached the Lo Wu mall on the border with Hong Kong where tailors, seamstresses, manufacturers of glasses, cashmere and various counterfeits are waiting to welcome you. The day was busy and Stéphanie's explanations and guidance were essential to better understand the city and its recent transformation. Definitely to do.
