Must try! Bill leads a brilliant cooking demonstration
The food tour and cooking class is incredible. A great opportunity to learn some recipes (specially selected to be repeatable when back in the UK) and to try some incredible food. The real highlight of the class is Bill, who took us on a great tour and answered any questions we had. He is clearly passionate about food and the city and it is lovely to be around him. I would recommend signing up, and make sure you don’t make dinner plans because they’ll end up being cancelled on account of a full stomach!

    Amazing cooking experience
An absolutely incredible experience! Bill took us round the local market to get some ingredients and explain things to us before taking us to the cooking studio. He shared some snacks with us before showing us how to cook a few dishes which we then had a go at cooking. The food was all delicious and we learnt a lot about the ingredients as well as stories and information about Hong Kong. He also gave recommendations on things to do/places to go. Very smooth communication beforehand and everything was very clean and to a high standard!

    Yum!
We booked a Chinese cooking course after moving to Hong Kong so that we could become familiar with making local dishes. We learned a lot from the market tour and studio cooking class and will immediately begin putting our knowledge to use while shopping and preparing meals. Bill was a knowledgeable and patient instructor; able to answer all out questions as well as giving tips on lots of Hong Kong food experiences. The studio is a large commercial kitchen within a modern building. The food was totally delicious! Recommend!

A friend and I were traveling through Asia. I've done cooking classes in Vietnam and Indonesia before, but booked them last minute because I suck at planning. We tried to do a cooking class in Singapore, but there's too few classes and they were all booked. I hoped to have better luck in Hong Kong, but either the classes were full or they wouldn't accommodate me (I'm vegetarian).

I happened to send Bill a note just to try my luck - to my surprise, he was super responsive and willing to take on the vegetarian challenge! He suggested a few dishes and created a custom course for us. We got three meals, a 1 hour market tour, and almost 4 hours of instruction - totally worth the ~$100 US per person (might be cheaper for a bigger group).

In our five hours together, we had a tour of a local market, walking through one of the poorer neighborhoods in Hong Kong. We wound up making a mushroom dish, vegetarian dumplings, hot n' sour soup, a vegetarian "pork" stir fry, and fried rice. He was very patient with all my questions, explaining for my friend (who isn't vegetarian) what basic substitutions she would make if she didn't want a veg version. I was surprised that outside of the actual prep (i.e. chopping up veggies), Chinese cuisine isn't nearly as intimidating as I originally thought.

Have a light breakfast if you need to - we were nibbling throughout the lesson and had a proper meal at the end. Bill even packed up the leftovers for us so we could enjoy them again at our hotel!

This was a nice (and tasty!) introduction to Chinese cooking and a great activity to escape the rain (or the heat, depending on the time of year you visit). I can't wait to try out my new skills at home :)

As a meat lover, I thought it would be fun to take on the vegetarian challenge using a variety of mushroom, soy based products and Chinese spices and sauces. I am totally surprised it went so well. This opportunity make me look at some regular Chinese dish in a new light. While I don't think I will go all the way to be a vegetarian, eating less meat is not a bad idea any way you look at it. Thanks Annie and Ashley for entrusting me to take on this challenge.

The Pots and Pans experience was something that I will remember for a very long time.

First of all, Bill is an extremely talented, kind and passionate man. He really tailors the cooking experience to ensure that every moment of the day was not to go to waste.

As for the cooking, it was simply delicious. We made Stir Fried Beans, Kung Pao Chicken, Pork Dumplings, and Sweet and Sour Pork. Each dish was so flavorful and felt so traditional, which heightened my appreciation for Chinese food. We even got to bring home the extra Dumplings that we made in the kitchen.

Overall, we had such an enjoyable time in the Pots and Pans kitchen. All the high tech equipment made it feel like we were in a professional kitchen, but we still got a very hands on experience.

Amazing food and always a great time! The place is also run by really friendly people - you'd be remiss not to visit :) It's the perfect thing to do if you are bored of the 'typical' hong kong activities. Whether it's a family and friends gathering, a date, or if you just want to improve your cooking skills, I cannot recommend this enough!

My mom and I love to cook together and in finding this class, we were excited at the prospect of learning To cook Chinese food. We were marveled by the space and amazing kitchen, the kindness of the people who work amazingly well to make the best experience for everybody. We had a choice of what to make and with our choices, the amazing food became. Our laoshe (teacher) Bill taught us and made us feel at home. Bill also was our guide and brought us to the wet market. This was more than excellent. If you are looking for tradition Chinese food, come here. I would like to personally thank Bill. My mom and I would totally recommend Pots n pans Cooking studio.

I am from Germany, I had a one day intensive cooking lesson. Bill is a very nice host with a lot of cooking experience and a passion for distinctive food quality.
The unique kitchen with big space and lots of euipment is a perfect place to get the passion for chinese cooking. All dishes we cooked together I already cooked at home and it taste wonderful. For me the cooking lesson was a unique experience.
I can highly recommend this place to get a original chinese and kantonese cooking experience.

Bill and his colleagues hosted a wonderful cooking class for 12 of us on a study tour in Hong Kong. We were supposed to go to a large nearby market first, but we ended up going there after the cooking class because we arrived very hungry! Bill's team was so accommodating. I highly recommend going to the market as part of the experience.

We had so much delicious food during our three hours, from chicken wings and bbq pork to hot & sour soup and Thai layer cake. We learned out to make dumplings by hand, which was fun and interactive. It was a great way to try several foods, socialize with friends and learn a bit about the ways in which food fits into Hong Kong history and culture.

This is a great activity for groups of friends, colleagues and families!

Shasha, it was a ball having you guys here. I also learnt a lot about the aviation program that these young persons are attending! I can now truly understand how much joy a fat Italian mama has when she sees that the young persons are enjoying her food! Take care! Bill

We had a brilliant few hours with Bill, who gave us a fascinating market tour and cookery lesson. Bill was an enthusiastic teacher who took the time to talk about Chinese culture and traditions as well as give us a hands-on class in his state-of-the-art teaching studio. He was also happy to adapt the lesson to suit one of us who is vegetarian. We made hot and spicy soup, vegetable stir fry, Kung Pao chicken and a fried rice dish -- and we got to eat them all at the end of the lesson! We would thoroughly recommend this experience! Thank you James! We love to tackle the problem of how to make certain twist to some familiar Chinese dishes that contains meat when the customers happen to be vegetarian. We are getting more and more such requests. I am glad the vegetarian versions are to your satisfaction. A big thank you for giving us the chance to serve you and Emma!

Had a fabulous experience with Bill today. We started with a wet market tour and then went to his professional kitchen space. We learnt lots about Chinese cooking and he told us where to buy the different ingredients and gave suggestions for different variations of the recipes based on our tastes. He is a great host and teacher and was happy to answer all of our questions! We made a three course meal, which was delicious. Bill even packed all the food we had made for us into takeaway containers. A great day, which we highly recommend. We will be back! Thank you 😀

Ellie and Stewart, nothing gives me more pleasure than our customers telling us that they have learnt something from our cooking class. It had been a very enjoyable few hours that we spent together today. Call me anytime if you have any question on your cooking. Take care and enjoy your stay in Hong Kong!

Bill is one of the most knowledgeable cooking instructors I've had. His willingness to share is knowledge allowed me to ask any questions I had about cooking authentic Chinese dishes. We learned to cook my favorite dish - Char Siu. The flavors of the Char Siu was robust and downright delicious. We also learned to cook a couple of more amazing dishes. I will definitely be booking another class with Bill!

I don't cook and I had a wonderful lesson with Bill. Not only did he go over the essentials of several Chinese dishes, he also gladly answered my questions about cooking pork chops (he mentioned sous vide) and using air fryers.

The facilities are spacious and professional. Bill also showed us his herb garden. He let us smell the sun-dried tangerine skins (both the new ones and the much more aromatic aged ones).

Bill himself is a pleasure to talk to. He'll talk about where to get ingredients, he'll talk about how to change things to suit your tastes. He'll inspire you to find your own reasons to be a better cook!

Cecilia (sorry I forgot the name of your wonderful husband!), thank you very much for your wonderful review. I really had a ball cooking with you guys. You live and learn, and this couldn't be truer in what I am doing! I get to reflect on the questions I am being asked and look at different ways to cook; how to fine tune it to suit different people's taste preference or the kind of kitchen they have. I really couldn't be more fortunate to be doing this job at this stage of my life! A big thank you to both of you! Bill
