The area
Neighbourhood: Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.

I like the boho type of concept that this bar had. They have a live band along with current pop hit music. The price of the drinks are fair for a decent bar. It was a great experience!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 November 2023
- Hitchin THong Kong, China113 contributionsAlways nice to be back! This place never disappoints when it comes to drinks, vibes and surprises. Call it magic or the Spirit of the team, this place welcomes friends from around the world and create memories with them as they leave. It's a spot where the parties continue all week, with live bands and amazing DJs. Definitely will be back for another drink or two(or more 😅) soon...Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 January 2024
- GlobeTrotting401531London, United Kingdom12 contributionsInteresting Place. Too many people. It was a very nice bar, with interesting decor. However, It was completely packed and impossible to walk around. In my opinion they should cap the number of people let in for a better experience. You par around HKD150 to get it, with a drink included. It was a good a experience but I would definitely avoid Fridays and Saturdays.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 January 2024

The Fairy concept is fun and entertaining… Major Shout Out to our waitress named NISA from Nepal! She was just so cool and friendly and helpful and a good laugh. Nothing was ever too much. As the night continued we only ordered with her! Top quality staff member!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Nisa!😊Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 July 2024

We dropped by for a quick bite to eat on a Tuesday evening - although we were expecting it to be relatively quiet being a Tuesday night, we reserved a table in advance just in case. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly greeted at the door by a hostess, escorted to one of the several private enclaves, and subsequently personally welcomed by the Manager.
The venue itself is quite extraordinary....quite mesmerizing to look over the room and the attention to detail.....lots of wood, iron, smelting tools, 'ovens' (private dining enclaves), and thousands of imitation butterflies adorn the ceiling....not to mention the hundreds of little iron fairies as the centerpiece of each table. They're available for sale for HKD 200 each should anyone wish to take one home as a souvenir).
We only had time for couple of drinks and a light meal, but the F&B was excellent, and we look forward to sampling some of the cocktails on our next visit.
A very 'Instagramworthy' experience!

The Iron Fairies is simply an iconic bar in Hong Kong. Every time I have been it has been very busy and I am told at the weekend the queues can take a long time. However, this is absolutely no surprise because the interior is stunning. It creates a really nice ambiance for drinking or chilling after work. This is made better by the fantastic staff- the drinks too are very good, but slightly on the expensive side. Everything about my experience was amazing apart from one crucial aspect of a bar- the music. The DJ was far from impressive and often did not even attempt to mix songs in, it was very choppy with songs cut out at weird places and no blending of new songs. This was quite disappointing as one would expect a bar of this stature to employ a decent DJ. The music selection was ok- there were some good songs but I was distracted by the mixing (or lack of). I look forward to going back and hearing a DJ mixing properly, because I have no doubt that will make this one of the best bars in Hong Kong.

Beyond the curtains lies another world, full of faries, amazing spirits and exciting vibes. Grab one of their signatures, follow the flow and dance till you drop. There's no place like this one that brings so much emotions in one night. Accompanied with amazing live bands through the evening and the best DJ's sending high vibes throughout the night till late everyday of the week. Best place ever 😉

The Iron Fairies is a whimsically designed jazz bar on Pottinger Street just off Hollywood Road in Central. What you find here is a visually appealing den that angles on fantasy with its blend of iron workshop and fairytale wonderland with hundreds of hanging butterflies and tables loaded with little cast iron fairies.
Opening hours are 6pm to 2pm daily and the place does get very busy on weekends. If you want to visit and take pictures that are unobstructed, show up at 6pm and you should be able to snap some pics before the place begins to fill up.
Cocktails are on the pricy end of the spectrum. We tried their Old School, Negroni and Fairy Secret, all of which were better than average. They lack the sophistication and excellence of nearby stars like Quinary and Room 309 but were better than what is served at most place. To be honest, we were less impressed with the snack foods, the crispy calamari was all heavily breaded tentacles and the truffle fries were very greasy and soft, not good. We skipped ordering more food after these first two orders.
Overall, Iron Fairies is a genuinely unique bar concept. The cocktails are good enough and the environs are very interesting. Think Alice In Wonderland and a couple rounds of drinks and that is what you get with the Iron Fairies. Definitely worth a visit at least once.

The ambience and bar decoration is definitely one of a kind. Very laid back, chill, dim with iron fairies to fiddle with at each table. Live band was good too and started playing around 10pm. Limited seats, so staff will definitely start chasing you away or get you to buy more drinks the moment you finish the one on hand. Cocktail drinks were quirky, there’s some that were really sour, some that were Smokey. Need to be adventurous

Quite a unique place with loads of atmosphere and a great band.
I tried their own beer which wasn't good and at £15 a bottle it wasn't cheap.
Stick to known brands and you'll enjoy the quirkyness of the place

Been to Iron Fairies for the last few years and always enjoyed the music and vibe. However this time it was very different. When i tried to climb up the few steps and stand on the elevated platform that surrounds the dance floor which was rather empty, i was asked to step down by the bouncer, when i asked WHY? no reason. The head bouncer was called and he too could not give me a valid answer, i even asked if the people standing were from the cubicles and he was speachless. This was a blatant act of racism because of the colour of my skin. I then wrote an email to one of the owners ~ Sandeep Sekhri but he hasnt replied as yet.
To top it off, this bar is owned by an Indian company!! Blatant Racism

Stumbled across this quirky little bar by chance, and oh boy I am glad.
With its quirky interior, live music and good drinks selection if was a great combination to end what was a very lovely evening.
Great little find, and one not to be missed. Couldnt resist buying some fairies to take home as well.

This was the one place on my list before arriving in Hong Kong that I HAD to visit. It did not disappoint! The food was great and the drinks were amazing. I loved the atmosphere, decor, wait staff, and live band! I bought a Fairy to come home to live with me! (they can be purchased for $200HK) A great souvenir and reminder of a wonderful evening.
