The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

I was in HK for a 4 day business trip , 1st visit in maybe 4 years.
As ever the staff were attentive , polite and help create a good atmosphere, made me feel like I was a regular.
Food is well priced and very good and the pints are excellent.
My only criticism is that the TV screens are dated and need to be replaces with better bigger screens ( I love my sport ) though that won’t stop me going back.
Thank you

Even under the nightmare of the return of Covid restrictions and the compulsory shutdown after 6 p.m., the White Stag makes for a pleasant experience at the moment in Hong Kong. The fish bites and French fries were solid menu items while the drinks list was extensive, and the service professional. A very pleasant mid-afternoon experience ensued.

As a pretty regular visitor to China and Hong Kong I’ve been using the White Stag for many years.
When you spend a week in China working its fantastic to end up here and a pint of Tetley awaits.
The food is always excellent, and a good choice is available, its not a posh restaurant but its high-end pub food at very reasonable prices.
Jonny is the host who will look after you and his team of able assistants make sure your glass is never empty.
Always a pleasure to visit and I hope its not long before things get back to normal and I can get out there again.

Standard Brit pub with all you could expect in Hong Kong. Fish & Chips, Curry, Full breakfast, Spaghetti, Bangers & Mash are some of my favorites. The Guiness flows, Football on TV and don't miss Monday Quiz night, always entertaining. Johnny is the best Bar Manager in HK.

If you want the British pub experience then try the Queen Victoria.
If you want some old school British pub fare then you'll do a lot worse then the White Stag.
I had fish and chips and wasn't disappointed. A light batter, melt in the mouth white fish and great chips.
There are livelier bars in this area but that's not what I was looking for.

Looks amazing, service is great (for drinks), decent sport on tv yet it’s missing a lot (maybe residents know more)
Happy hour is not happy compared to other bars. That is for sure.
Food (southwest chicken) was, at best, average and I had to search for my own condiments as the spicy coleslaw was a tea spoon at best.
It’s just missing something. You walk in expecting mountains but sadly leave with molehills.
Disappointed

Visited the Stag last week, busy but really well run. Had a few beers and ordered food, I have to say that the Chilli is top draw, best I’ve had when eating out. Even given a choice as too how how you want it. Staff made us feel special and not once did we have to wait to have glasses refilled. Reasonable price and value for money. No service charge either !!!!! Definitely go back when I return to HK.

We visit the White Stag each time we are in Hong Kong! The last visit was two years ago and when we arrived this time the owner remembered us. Good Beer, Cider and wine. The spicy potato wedges are yummy. Trivia night on Sunday and Monday, fun to hang around for.

No idea why I started going to this pub in a city of so many, but it was a home from home for many years. I usually arrived on a Sunday evening, drop the bag off, shower and head out for the Sunday Pub Quiz. Bit of home-cooked style food, bit of beer and back to the hotel, resetting the clock for the week ahead.
