The 11 day tour we were on included a trip to the Badaling section of the Great Wall but on my sister's recommendation we substituted it for a 1 day excursion to Mutianyu. It was great!! When we compared pictures with the rest of our...More

The Great Wall is one of those things you must see to appreciate! Just reading about it and looking at the picture simply won't do, so do yourself a favor and visit. Mutianyu is quite doable in a few hours starting from central Beijing especially...More

We ate at the restaurant at the foot of the steps up to the wall. The meal was excellent. We opted to walk up the steps rather than take the gondola. It was steeper than I expected. As it was November, it was relatively quiet....More

Impressive man made wonder.... across the mountains, several meters/feet high and even 10 people and walk side by side on top of the wall. Although not all the same, impressive to think for than 4000 miles/6000 kms long....a strong communications and economic staple.

We went in early December and pretty much had the place all to ourselves! It was wonderful. Be prepared to hike! We took the ski lift up to the wall and the toboggan ride down. It was a blast. Our guide was wonderful, providing a...More

This section of the wall actually could be a nice place to visit, but there are way too much tourists inside at the same time. It is close to Beijing, easy access. Although it is a reconstructed part of the wall, and not much about...More
