I came with a group of. Colleagues to see the Great Wall of China! It was great. There are shops and vendors selling things like gloves, snacks and beanies as you approach the wall entrance. Be sure to wear good walking shoes for the hike...More

Everyone who goes to Beijing must visit the Great Wall just to see how they built it, we climbed to the Fourth Tower and that was enough for us. Take your time and rest every so often and the same coming down. the view across...More

It was as expected - awesome to look at and to imagine it in ancient times. But it was also old, somewhat dirty, crowded. I'm glad we went and climbed as far as we did. It was a tourist attraction - one that you have...More

The great wall is an unforgettable experience. Not only is it such a vast undertaking, but the landscape is so forbidding to have accomplished this feat in any era is astounding. It is worth taking a walk to understand just how steep the structure is,...More

Nothing can prepare one for this amazing defensive system. You need to be reasonably fit as some of the stairs are very steep although i believe there is a gondola at one part of the wall. Like most of the ancient sites in this country...More

Easy to get to. I recommend you go early. The trains don't run as early as you might think. there can be a bit of a lag between trains to head up there.

One cannot appreciate the magnitude of this wall without actually visiting a minuscule portion of the whole wall. It is breathtaking and difficult to describe.

We were lucky to visit on a dry bright day. Any moisture and it would be lethal underfoot. Even the less steep section is steep! An amazing structure. There are a few shops and restaurants at the base area.

Badaling is definitely the busest of all sections of the Wall. If you do not mind crowds and prefer a section that is easier to traverse then choose Badaling.
